A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by section thirteen of "The Land Act, 1892," I, Uchter
John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, do by this notice hereby proclaim as closed
the road in Rimutaka Survey District hereinafter de-
scribed.

of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly;
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George;
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at
Wellington, this twelfth day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and three.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by section thirteen of "The Land Act, 1892," and its amendments, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, with the consent of the owner and of the mortgagee of the lands hereinafter mentioned, and with the consent of the Hutt County Council, being the local authority in whose district the said lands are situated, do by this notice hereby proclaim as taken for a road the lands in Rimutaka Survey District hereinafter described, that is to say,-

Duty to be levied on "Leather-board" or "Compo" cut into Shapes.
RANFURLY, Governor.
WHEREAS the material known as "leather-board" or "compo," on which the tariff of New Zealand imposes a duty of fourpence per pound, is being imported cut into shapes for the manufacture of boots and shoes, and entered at twenty-two and a half per centum under the tariff heading "Leather cut into shapes," thus evading the heavier duty of fourpence per pound on the same material when imported intact: I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers in me for this purpose vested by "The Customs and Excise Duties Act, 1888," do hereby direct that a duty of fourpence per pound be levied on the said leather or compo cut into shapes, on and after the date hereof.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourteenth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and three.
