Allocating Land reserved and taken for a Railway to the
Purposes of a Road in the Borough of Eltham.

RANFURLY, Governor.
A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto
forms part of land taken for the purposes of the
Foxton-New Plymouth Railway, and it is considered desir-
able to allocate such land to the purposes of a road:
And whereas it has been certified by the Minister for
Railways that such land is not required for railway pur-
poses: And whereas such land is situated in the Town of
Eltham, the local authority of which has consented to the
issue of this Proclamation:
And whereas His Excellency the Governor is of opinion
that the said local authority can conveniently construct and
maintain the said road:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by
section one hundred and seventy-seven of “The Public
Works Act, 1891,” and of every other power and authority
in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim
and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto
shall, upon the publication hereof in the New Zealand
Gazette, become a road, and that the said road shall be
under the control of the Eltham Borough Council, and shall
be maintained by the said Borough Council in like manner
as other public highways are controlled and maintained by
the said Borough Council.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Taranaki Land District, in the Ngaiere
Survey District, containing 5·6 perches (more or less),
being a piece of Railway Reserve in the Town of Eltham.
Bounded on the south-west by the north-east side of El-
tham Road, a distance of 89·1 links; on the east by a road,
a distance of 104·9 links; and on the north-west by other
portion of the Railway Reserve, a distance of 82 links: as
the said parcel of land is more particularly delineated on
the plan marked 11585, deposited in the office of the
Minister for Railways, at Wellington, and thereon coloured
purple.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly;
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished
Order of Saint Michael and Saint George;
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over
His Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its
Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at the Government House, at Wel-
ington, this twenty-ninth day of May, in the
year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and
three.

Defining the Middle Line of a Portion of the Kawakawa-
Grahamtown Railway — namely, a Portion of the Extension
from Block III., Motatau Survey District, to Hukerenui.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS a portion of the Kawakawa-Grahamtown
Railway — namely, from Block III., Motatau Survey
District, to Hukerenui (hereinafter termed “the said rail-
way”) — is a railway the construction of which is authorised
by “The Railways Authorisation Act, 1900”: And whereas
it has been determined to construct and maintain a portion
of the same:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred by “The
Public Works Act, 1894,” and in exercise of every other
power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf,
do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle line of the
above-mentioned portion of the said railway shall be that
defined and set forth in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point in Block III., Motatau Survey Dis-
trict, distant about 175½ chains due east and 24½ chains due
south of Trig. Station G¹ (Tarakahau), the said point being
also the termination of the line of railway as described in a
Proclamation dated the 20th September, 1901, and pub-
lished in the New Zealand Gazette No. 86, of the 26th Sep-
tember, 1901; proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly
and a southerly direction for a distance of about 4 miles,
and passing in, into, through, or over Native lands in
Blocks III. and VII., Motatau Survey District; and ter-
minating at a point marked 19 miles in said Block VII.,
Motatau Survey District, distant about 377 chains on a
bearing of 133° from Trig. Station G¹ (Tarakahau) afore-
said: including all adjoining and intervening places, lands,
reserves, roads, tracks, streams, and watercourses; all in
the Land District of Auckland; in the manner delineated
on the plan marked P.W.D. 20312, deposited in the office of
the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Pro-
vincial District of Wellington.

Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished
Order of Saint Michael and Saint George;
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over

section thirteen of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter
John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, do by this notice hereby proclaim as closed
the road hereinafter described, that is to say, —

of the Midland Railway between Otarama and Jackson—
namely, between Otira and Jackson:
And whereas all conditions precedent required by law to
be observed and performed prior to the taking of such land
for the purposes hereinafter specified have been observed
and performed:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of
the powers and authorities conferred on me by section one
hundred and sixty-seven of “The Public Works Act, 1894,”
and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling
me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is taken for the
portion of the said line of railway hereinbefore specified.
