New County of Waimarino divided into Ridings, &c.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Counties Act, 1886,” and “The Waimarino County Act, 1902,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby divide the new County of Waimarino, as constituted by the said Acts, into seven ridings, to be called the Huikumu Riding, the Manganui Riding, the Ruapehu Riding, the Karici Riding, the Parapara Riding, the Rsetihi Riding, and the Ohakune Riding, and declare that the boundaries thereof shall be those set forth under the names of the said ridings respectively in the Schedule hereto.

And I do hereby declare that one member shall be elected for each of the abovenamed ridings.

And I do further declare that Thursday, the twenty-first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and three, shall be the day upon which the election of the first Council of the said County of Waimarino shall take place, and that Thursday, the twenty-eighth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and three, at two o’clock in the afternoon, shall be the time, and Bennett’s Building, at Raetihi, shall be the place, at which the first meeting of the said Council shall be held.

SCHEDULE.

HUIKUMU RIDING.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded towards the north-east by the north-eastern boundary of the Waimarino County as described in “The Waimarino County Act, 1902,” from the Wanganui River to a point in line with the western boundary-line of the Kaitieke Survey District: thence towards the east generally by a right line to the north-western corner of the said Kaitieke Survey District; thence by the said Kaitieke Survey District and the Manganui Survey District to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary-line of Waimarino No. 3 Block; thence by a right line to Pikiariki Trig. Station; thence by the north-eastern boundary-line of the said Waimarino No. 3 Block and the production of that boundary-line to Okauamoa Trig. Station; thence by the south-western boundary-lines of Sections Nos. 9 and 10, Block XIII., Manganui Survey District, to the road forming the south-eastern boundary of the last-mentioned section; thence by that road and the production of its south-eastern side to the Orautaha Stream; thence by the said Orautaha Stream to Section No. 8, Block II., Makotuku Survey District; thence by that section to the Raetihi-Ohura Road; thence across that road and by Sections Nos. 6, 13, 14, and 16, Block II. aforesaid, by Sections Nos. 6, 7, and 8, Block VI., Makotuku Survey District, and by the Township of Raetihi to the Pipiriki-Raetihi Road: thence towards the south generally by that road to the Township of Pipiriki; thence by the southern boundary-line of the Township of Pipiriki to the Wanganui River: and thence towards the west generally by the Wanganui River to the place of commencement.

MANGANUI RIDING.

All that area in the Wellington Land District bounded towards the north-east by the north-eastern boundary of the Waimarino County as described in “The Waimarino County Act, 1902,” from a point in line with the western boundary-line of Kaitieke Survey District to the Waimarino-Taumaranui Road: thence towards the east generally by the said Waimarino-Taumaranui Road to the Township Reserve in Block VIII., Manganui Survey District; thence by the road forming the northern boundary of that reserve to the road forming the western boundary of Section No. 19, Block VIII. aforesaid; thence by the road forming the western boundaries of Sections Nos. 19, 4, 8, and 9, Block VIII. aforesaid, to Section No. 12; thence by the northern, eastern, and south-eastern boundary-lines of the said Section No. 12 to the road forming its south-western boundary; thence by the road forming the eastern boundary of Section No. 11, Block VIII. aforesaid, and the road forming the eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 4 and 10, Block XII., Manganui Survey District, to the Mangaturuturu Stream; thence by that stream to the mad forming the western boundary of the Urewera Black; thence by that road to the road forming the north-western boundary of the Section No. 1, Block XVI., Manganui Survey District; thence towards the south-east by the road forming the north-western boundaries of Sections Nos. 1, 6, and 7, Block XVI. aforesaid, the road intersecting the Horopito Township Reserve, and the road forming the north-western boundaries of Sections Nos. 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12, Block XVI. aforesaid, and the road forming part of the south-western boundary of the last-mentioned section to the Makotuku Stream; thence by the said Makotuku Stream to the Raetihi-Ohura Road: thence towards the south-west by the said Raetihi-Ohura Road to the western boundary-line of Section No. 8, Block II., Makotuku Survey District: and thence towards the west generally by the Huikumu Riding hereinbefore described to the place of commencement.
