THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

I, ISAAC THOMPSON, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, New Zealand, 1903, now residing in Christchurch, hereby give notice that I intend applying on the 23rd day of May next to have my name placed on the Medical Register for the Colony of New Zealand, and that I have deposited the evidence of my qualification in the office of the Registrar of Births and Deaths at Christchurch.

HAWERA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Proposal that “The Rating on Unimproved Value Act, 1896,” be adopted in the Borough of Hawera, and that henceforth property be rated upon the basis of the “unimproved value thereof.”

I HEREBY give notice that a poll on the above proposal was taken on the 8th day of April, 1903, and that result of poll was as follows:—

And I therefore declare the above proposal to be negatived.

NOTICE is hereby given by the undersigned that the Partnership existing between them under the title of “Quick and Smith.” Sharebrokers, has this day expired by effluxion of time. All debts due by the firm will be paid by E. R. Smith, and it is requested that all amounts due to the firm be paid to him.

THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

SUBSCRIPTIONS.—The subscription is at the rate of 30s per annum, PAYABLE IN ADVANCE. A less period than three months cannot be subscribed for.

Single copies of the Gazette, 6d. each.

Advertisements are charged at the rate of 6d. per line for the first insertion, and 3d. per line for the second and any subsequent insertion.

Statements under the Mining Act are uniformly charged 23s.

All advertisements should be written on one side of the paper, and signatures, &c., should be written in a legible hand.

The number of insertions required must be written across the face of the advertisement.

The New Zealand Gazette is published on Thursday evening in each week, and notices for insertion must be received by the Government Printer before three o’clock of the day preceding publication.

Communications should be addressed to the Government Printer, Wellington, to whom post. office money. orders should be made payable. Cheques should be crossed “Public a/c,” and exchange added.

Postage- or duty-stamps cannot be received in payment from any place at which postal notes or post-office orders are issued.

Prepayment may be demanded in any case. In order to prevent delay in publication a sufficient remittance should accompany every advertisement. Any surplus will be returned with receipted account.


DISTRICT COURT ACTS, WITH RULER AND REGULATIONS, are now issued in one compact volume.

Price: Cloth, 48.; half-calf, Be. 6d.

Orders may be given to local booksellers or to the undersigned, who will forward copies post-free.

SCHOOL FOR DEAF-MUTES, SUMNER, NEAR CHRISTCHURCH.

FOR Deaf Children of sound intellect. The pupils are taught to use and understand ordinary speech. The least age for entrance is between six and seven.

The full charge for board and education is £40 a year, but less is accepted from parents who cannot afford to pay this mount. In case of necessity admission is free.

Parents having dumb children between the ages of four and seven, and other persons desiring information with regard to the school, are invited to apply to
