Rural Lands in the Auckland Land District open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on and after the twenty-seventh day of May, one thousand nine hundred and three; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may be selected on lease in perpetuity only, in accordance with the provisions of section one hundred and twenty-one of the said Act, as they contain, or are supposed to contain, metals, minerals, or valuable stone; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892,” and “The Mining Act, 1898,” and amendments.

Section 1, fairly level land; forest light, chiefly tawa, a few rimu; soil good. Section 2, fairly level, except along stream and Omanawa River; light forest—tawa, rata, and a few rimu; soil light, but good grass land. Section 3, undulating forest land, broken towards the Omanawa River; mixed forest; a few rimu trees; light soil. Section 4, good aspect; well watered; a little broken towards Omanawa River; light mixed forest, with a few rimu; soil light, but good; will make good grass country when cleared. Section 5, light tawa bush; land flat, except on western side, where birch grows on slope to stream; the section contains a few rimu. Situated sixteen to eighteen miles from Tauranga.

Good land, fairly level, except west side, where it is broken and rather poor along stream; mixed forest—tawa, rata, and a few rimu. Situated twenty-two miles from Tauranga.

Level and undulating lands, covered with light forest, chiefly tawa, a few rimu; no streams, but water can be got by sinking; soil light; good grass land. Section 18 fronts the main Rotorua—Tauranga Road. About twenty miles from Tauranga.

Appointment of Chairmen of Licensing Committees.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in that behalf vested in me by “The Alcoholic Liquors Sale Control Act Amendment Act, 1895,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint the Stipendiary Magistrates named in the first column of the Schedule hereto to be the Chairmen of the Licensing Committees for the licensing districts respectively named in the second column of the said Schedule opposite the name of each such Stipendiary Magistrate.
