SCHEDULE.
BOUNDARIES OF WARDS.

  1. THE boundaries of Central Ward are identical with those of the heretofore-existing City of Christchurch.
  2. The boundaries of Linwood Ward are identical with those of the heretofore-existing Borough of Linwood.
  3. The boundaries of St. Albans Ward are identical with those of the heretofore-existing Borough of St. Albans.
  4. The boundaries of Sydenham Ward are identical with those of the heretofore-existing Borough of Sydenham.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this first day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and three.

Union of Boroughs of City of Wellington and Melrose.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the respective Councils of the City of Wellington and of the Borough of Melrose, by petitions under the respective common seals of the Corporations of such city and borough, as provided by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” have prayed the Governor that such city and borough (forming one continuous area) be constituted one united borough :

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” do hereby proclaim that the said City of Wellington and the said Borough of Melrose are hereby constituted one borough, and also that the said borough so constituted is a city by the name of the City of Wellington, and also that the said city so constituted and named is hereby divided into two wards, to be called Wellington Ward and Melrose Ward, the boundaries of the Wellington Ward to be identical with those of the City of Wellington, and the boundaries of the Melrose Ward to be identical with those of the Borough of Melrose, as such city and borough respectively were constituted immediately before the issue of this Proclamation :

And I do proclaim and direct that the number of Councillors to be elected for each such ward shall be as follows:—

Wellington . . . . Twelve Councillors.
Melrose . . . . Three Councillors.

And I do hereby appoint John Richard Palmer (the Town Clerk to the heretofore-existing City of Wellington) to be the Town Clerk temporarily of the said united borough; and I do hereby appoint James Ames (the Returning Officer to the said existing city) to be the Returning Officer temporarily to the said united borough :

And I do also proclaim and direct that this Proclamation shall issue and be gazetted on the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and three, and shall take effect on and from that date accordingly.
