Rural Lands in the Southland Land District open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on and after the thirteenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and three; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may be selected on lease in perpetuity only, in accordance with the provisions of section one hundred and twenty-one of the said Act, as they contain, or are supposed to contain, metals, minerals, or valuable stone; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892,” and “The Mining Act, 1898,” and amendments.

Situated about twelve miles and a half from Orepuki Railway-station by road. Section 2 is well watered; forest land; soil good; about 30 acres cleared, rest of section covered with light bush. Section 5 is also well watered; soil good; about 70 acres cleared, rest of section covered with heavy bush. Section 6 is well watered; soil good, and land nearly all cleared.

Situated about three miles and a half from Orepuki Railway-station; land rather broken; soil good; about 30 acres cleared, rest covered with mixed bush of no commercial value.

Fixing Sittings of District Courts.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in this behalf enabling me, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby fix and appoint that sittings of the District Courts of Ashburton, Timaru and Oamaru, Otago Goldfields, Western Otago, and Westland, for civil and criminal business, shall be held as follows, from and after the first day of January next, in lieu of those previously fixed and appointed:—

ASHBURTON DISTRICT.

In the Courthouse, Ashburton, for civil business only, on 21st January, 11th March, 13th May, 8th July, 9th September, and 11th November.

TIMARU AND OAMARU DISTRICT.

In the Courthouse, Timaru, for civil business only, on 23rd January, 13th March, 15th May, 10th July, and 11th September. For criminal and civil business, on 13th November.

In the Courthouse, Oamaru, for civil business only, on 27th March, 26th May, 25th September, and 27th November. For criminal and civil business, on 27th January and 21st July.

OTAGO GOLDFIELDS DISTRICT.

In the Courthouse, Lawrence, for civil and criminal business, on 29th May and 24th November.

In the Courthouse, Queenstown, for civil and criminal business, on 5th May and 5th November.

In the Courthouse, Naseby, for civil and criminal business, on 24th March and 22nd September.

WESTERN OTAGO DISTRICT.

In the Courthouse, Invercargill, for civil business only on 13th January, 17th March, 19th May, 14th July, 15th September, and 17th November.

In the Courthouse, Gore, for civil business only, on 14th January, 18th March, 20th May, 15th July, 16th September, and 18th November.

WESTLAND DISTRICT.

In the Courthouse, Westport, for civil business only, on 6th April, 10th August, and 7th December. For civil and criminal business, on 9th February, 8th June, and 12th October.

In the Courthouse, Greymouth, for civil business only, on 17th April, 14th August, and 11th December. For civil and criminal business, on 13th February, 12th June, and 16th October.

In the Courthouse, Hokitika, for civil business only, on 20th February, 21st April, 21st August, and 23rd October. For civil and criminal business, on 19th June and 18th December.

In the Courthouse, Reefton, for civil business only, on the 18th February, 15th April, 17th June, 19th August, 21st October, and 16th December.

In the Courthouse, Kumara, for civil business only, on 16th February, 20th April, 15th June, 17th August, 19th October, and 14th December.

Provided that in case any of the days so fixed as aforesaid shall happen to be a holiday, then the Court appointed for that day shall be holden on the first day thereafter not being a holiday.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-second day of November, one thousand nine hundred and two.

WHEREAS a report has been received from the Surveyor-General, from which it appears that the roads described in the Schedule hereto are unformed and unused, and that they intersect land acquired under “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900,” and are not suitable for the subdivision of such land:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of section sixty-nine of the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in
