Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Wairoa County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

NOTICE UNDER “THE LOCAL BODIES’ LOANS ACT, 1901.”
THE following is the result of the poll taken this day on the proposal to borrow £11,350 for forming and metalling various roads in the Wairoa County:—
Number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 120; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 59; number of informal votes, 1.
As the number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal is three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll, I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

Notice pursuant to “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”
THE result of the poll on loan proposals, taken at the Road Board Office, Oxford, on Thursday, 6th November, 1902, was as follows:—
For the proposed loan, 175; against, 35: informal, 2.
The majority (140) for the loan being in excess of the three-fifths required by the Act, the proposals are therefore carried.

REFERRING to Notice to Mariners No. 57 of 1902, issued by this Department on the 11th August last, the following notice, received from the Department of Ports and Harbours, Melbourne, Victoria, is published for general information.

VICTORIA.—PORT PHILLIP HEADS.—SUBMARINE BLASTING OPERATIONS.
REFERRING to Notices to Mariners Nos. 5 and 31, of 20th December, 1901, and 16th July, 1902, respectively, it is hereby notified that submarine blasting operations have been resumed in the fairway entrance to Port Phillip, and mariners and boatmen are cautioned, in accordance with former notices, not to approach nearer than a quarter of a mile to the boats or attendant steamer engaged at such operations during slack water.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to transfer the following officer from the Department of Lands and Survey to the Department of Roads, as from 1st December, 1901, and, as that officer is already on the permanent staff of the Civil Service, to appoint him as from the same date to the Department of Roads in the position mentioned against his name:—

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 2 of “The Towns Main Streets Act, 1902,” I, Thomas Young Duncan, Minister of Lands, do hereby authorise the laying-off of Main Street, in the Town of Becklands, Taranaki Land District, of a width of 66 ft., instead of 99 ft., as prescribed by section 17 of “The Land Act, 1892.”
