Result of poll taken on the 11th day of October, 1902, upon the proposal to raise a loan under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the purpose of acquiring land for a road to connect Okoia with Matarawa, and forming and metalling and providing necessary culverts for the said road.
For the proposal, 17 votes; against the proposal, nil.
I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

BOROUGH OF WINTON.—SPECIAL LOAN.
Notice is hereby given that at the poll taken on the 13th October, 1902, on the proposal of the Borough Council to borrow, for twenty-six years, at 4½ per cent. interest per annum, £800 for the construction of an outfall drain or outfall drains, and, as far as the money so raised will allow, the construction of drains into such outfall or outfalls, the following votes were recorded:—
For the proposal, 70; against the proposal, 10: majority in favour of the proposal, 60.
I therefore declare the proposal duly carried.

For the proposal, 34; against the proposal, 45: majority against the proposal, 11. Informal, 1.
I therefore declare the proposal rejected.

BOROUGH OF HOKITIKA.
I, Henry Leslie Michel, Mayor of the Borough of Hokitika, hereby give notice that the result of the poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Hokitika, taken at Hokitika on the 3rd day of October, 1902, on the proposal—“That, under and by virtue of the provisions of ‘The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,’ and ‘The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,’ the Hokitika Borough Council propose to borrow by way of special loan the sum of £10,000 for the purpose of improving the drainage system of the Borough of Hokitika, such loan to bear interest at the rate of 3½ per centum per annum for a period of forty-one years, at the expiration of which period the liability of the said Council shall cease without further payment; and for the purpose of providing security and making provision for the repayment of the said loan it is proposed to make and levy an annually recurring special rate of 2½d. in the pound on the unimproved value of the rateable property in the Borough of Hokitika; it is proposed to pay out of the said loan the cost of raising the same, and the interest thereon for the first year”—was as follows:—
Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 201; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 151; informal, 5.
I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.
