Special Order made by the Eketa-huna County Council.

THE following special order, made by the Eketa-huna County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

EKETAHUNA COUNTY COUNCIL.
Special Order.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in them in that behalf by “The Counties Act, 1886,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Eketa-huna County Council hereby resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £50, authorised to be raised by the Eketa-huna County Council, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the completion of metalling the Parkville–Nireaha Road, the amount borrowed (£500) having been found insufficient to complete the whole work, the said Eketa-huna County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ⅔d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Parkville–Nireaha Road Special Rating District, comprising Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 56, 57, 58, 59, 65, 161 (Suburban), and 182 (Suburban), of Block V., Mangaone Survey District, and Sections 17 (southern half), 19, 21, 23, 25, Block VII., Tararua Survey District; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of February and the 1st day of August in each and every year during a period equal to the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off; the interest and other charges on the loan to be paid at the rate of 3½ per centum per annum; the cost of raising the loan and the first year’s interest to be paid out of the loan.
I hereby certify that the above special order was made by resolution of the Eketa-huna County Council at a special meeting held on Saturday, the 12th July, 1902, and confirmed at a special meeting on Saturday, the 16th August, 1902.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Borough of Grey Lynn.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Grey Lynn, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900.”

BOROUGH OF GREY LYNN.—RESULT OF POLL FOR SPECIAL LOAN OF £3,000.
I, ROBERT TAYLOR WARNOCK, Mayor of the Borough of Grey Lynn, hereby give notice that the result of the poll taken in the said borough upon the proposal to raise a special loan of £3,000 for the purpose of carrying out, in conjunction with the local authorities of the adjoining city and road districts, the formation and construction in a permanent manner (including cuttings, fillings, footways, channels, and culverts) of the highways lying along the boundaries of the said borough, which was held on the 11th day of August, 1902, was as follows:—
Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 281; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 132; majority of votes in favour, 149.
I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

I, Robert Taylor Warnock, Mayor of the Borough of Grey Lynn, do hereby solemnly and sincerely declare that all proceedings required by law to be taken in or towards obtaining the sanction of the electors of the said borough to raise a special loan of £3,000 for the purpose of carrying out, in conjunction with the local authorities of the adjoining city and road districts, the formation and construction in a permanent manner (including cuttings, fillings, footways, channels, and culverts) of the highways lying along the boundaries of the said borough have been duly taken, and that the resolution in favour of the proposal has been duly carried.
And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

Notice respecting Proposed Alteration in the Boundaries of the Borough of Masterton, County of Masterton.

Wellington, 18th August, 1902.
PURSUANT to section 176 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” His Excellency the Governor directs it to be notified that a petition in accordance with regulations, signed by not less than one-fourth of the electors of the area described in the Schedule hereto, has been presented to him praying that the said area may be excluded from the Borough of Masterton and included in the County of Masterton.
All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration within one month from the first publication of this notice.
Such objections or petitions are to be addressed and forwarded to the Colonial Secretary, Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded towards the north-east generally by the right bank of the Waipoua River from the north-western boundary-line of the Borough of Masterton, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 60, 12th July, 1877, to the south-eastern boundary-line of the eastern portion of Akura Block: thence towards the south-east generally by the south-eastern boundary line of the said Akura Block, the south-eastern and eastern boundary-lines of Bishop’s Reserve, and the eastern and south-eastern boundary-lines of the Ngaumutawa Block to the Waipokaka Stream; thence by that stream to Section No. 31, Masterton Small-farm Block; thence by the south-eastern and southern boundary-lines of the said Section No. 31 and the southern boundary-line of that section produced to the middle of Railway Road; thence by a line along the middle of the said Railway Road to Kuripuni Stream: thence again towards the north-east generally by the left bank of Kuripuni Stream to the south-eastern side of Columba Road: thence towards the north-west by the said Columba Road to the Waipoua River: thence again towards the north-east by the Waipoua River to its confluence with the Ruamahanga River; and thence by the said Ruamahanga River to the northernmost corner of the Pokohiwi Block: thence again towards the south-east, towards the south-west, and again towards the north-west by the south-eastern, south-western, and north-western boundary-lines of the Borough of Masterton aforesaid to the place of commencement.

By-laws regulating Traffic on Ohingaiti–Tokaanu and other Roads.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by section 130 of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and its amendments, I, Thomas Young Duncan, Minister of Lands, do, in respect of the Government roads known as the Ohingaiti–Tokaanu Road, the Torere–Pukeokahu–Horouta Road, the Pipiriki–Waiouru Road, the Moawhango–Te Horo Road, and the Parapara–Raetihi–Ohura Road, hereby make the following by-laws:—

The use of bullocks as traction animals on the said roads is prohibited for the period from 1st May to 1st November in any year.

The haulage or transportation on the said roads of any vehicle, engine, or machine coming under the definition of “heavy traffic” within the meaning of clause (a) of subsection (1) of section 130 of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” during the months of May, June, July, August, and September in any year shall cease.
“Heavy traffic” is defined, in the section above referred to, to be “the transportation of any vehicle, engine, or machine which shall itself, or together with any thing or things being transported thereon, weigh more than one and a half tons avoirdupois to each pair of wheels.”
