roll of the said city from time to time and for the time being
in force. Such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate
during the currency of such loan, payable at the office of the
Council in the City of Christchurch on the 10th day of June
in each and every year during the currency of such loan,
being a period of thirty-two years commencing on the 10th
day of June, 1902, or until all moneys owing in respect of the
said loan, with interest at the rate of £4 per centum per
annum, shall have been paid off and discharged.

“That a special meeting of this Council be called for
Monday, the 9th day of June, 1902, at 7.30 o’clock in the
afternoon, to be held at the Council’s Office, Oxford Terrace,
for the purpose of confirming the foregoing resolution.”

NOTICE OF MEDICAL REGISTRATION.

I, ELIZABETH WHITE, Doctor of Medicine of the
University of Nashville, U.S.A., now residing in
Auckland, hereby give notice that I intend applying on the
29th August next to have my name placed on the Medical
Register for the Colony of New Zealand; and that I have
deposited the evidence of my qualification in the office of
the Registrar at Auckland.

desire to be known, called, and addressed by the surname of
“ENGLAND,” affixed to my first Christian name, or the
initial thereof, my name in full being PETER ENGLAND.
And I also hereby make known that after this date all
papers, documents, deeds, receipts, &c., requiring my signa-
ture will be signed by me in accordance with this notice.

“THE RATING ON UNIMPROVED VALUE ACT, 1896.”
NOTICE is hereby given that at a poll of ratepayers
taken this day on the proposal that “The Rating
on Unimproved Value Act, 1896,” be adopted in the
Borough of Stratford, and that henceforth property be
rated upon the basis of the unimproved value thereof, the
following votes were recorded:—
For the proposal .. .. 137
Against the proposal .. .. 64
Informal .. .. .. 1
I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

PATENT OFFICE SUPPLEMENT.

A SPECIAL Supplement to the New Zealand Gazette is
now published fortnightly, containing all notices con-
cerning patents and trade-marks required by law to be
gazetted; also, particulars of lapsed applications for patents,
expired letters patent, and other information useful to in-
ventors, manufacturers, and others. The Supplement will
be issued free to subscribers to the Gazette, and to others on
payment of a subscription of ten shillings per annum, pay-
able in advance to the Government Printer.

SCHOOL FOR DEAF-MUTES, SUMNER, NEAR
CHRISTCHURCH.

FOR Deaf Children of sound intellect. The pupils are
taught to use and understand ordinary speech. The
best age for entrance is between six and seven.
The full charge for board and education is £40 a year,
but less is accepted from parents who cannot afford to pay
this amount. In case of necessity admission is free.
Parents having dumb children between the ages of four
and seven, and other persons desiring information with
regard to the school, are invited to apply to
