within the special district, the said Wirokino Road Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of ⅔d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Otauru Diversion Special Rating District, comprising part Manawatu-Kukutauaki 4A 2D (being 100 acres of the south-western half of 4A 2D), Sections 347 to 349, 397 to 438, 457 to 464, 611 to 629, 619A, 630 to 634, 636 to 646, 648, 649, Shannon, Block XI., Mount Robinson Survey District, all inclusive; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable annually on the 1st day of June in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
I hereby certify that the foregoing special order by the Wirokino Road Board was duly adopted at an ordinary meeting held on the 21st day of June, 1902, and confirmed at a special meeting held on the 26th day of July, 1902, and was made in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

STRATFORD COUNTY COUNCIL.
COPY of a SPECIAL ORDER making a Special Annual-recurring Rate over the Mangaehu Road No. 3 Special-rating District, instituted at a Special Meeting held on the 19th February, 1902, and confirmed on the 16th April, 1902.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in them in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and “The Counties Act, 1886,” the Stratford County Council do hereby resolve as follows:—
“That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £500, authorised to be raised by the Stratford County Council, under the provisions of ‘The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,’ for the purpose of defraying the cost of completing the construction of part of the Mangaehu Road, as originally proposed under the £850 loan proposal carried for that purpose, the said Stratford County Council do hereby make and levy a special rate of 1½d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Mangaehu Road No. 3 Special-rating District, comprising part Section 3 (eastern half), Sections 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, part Section 21 (southern half), and part Section 23 (southern half) of Block II., Omona Survey District, and Sections 4, 5, 6, 12, 13, 15, and 16 of Block III., Omona Survey District; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of February in each and every year during a period equal to the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully paid off; the rate of interest to be 4½ per cent. per annum.”

PAHIATUA COUNTY COUNCIL.
Special Order.
THAT a special rate of ⅔d. in the pound be struck on the rateable value for the time being of the following sections, comprising the special-rating area for Loan 63 (Valley Road, Mangahao), viz., Sections 66, 67, 80, 81, 114, 115, and half of Section 65, all in Block VI., Mangahao Survey Dis-
trict, to meet interest, sinking fund, and annual charges on a loan of £260 to be borrowed by this Council under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and its amendments, to re-form and metal that portion of the Valley Road, Mangahao (road 37), from opposite Section 65 to the south boundary of Section 80, Block VI., Mangahao; such rate to be an annually recurring rate, for forty-one years, at 3½ per cent. per annum, and to be paid in one sum on the 1st September in each year.
I hereby certify that the above special order was duly passed by the Pahiatua County Council on the 8th February, 1902, and confirmed on the 3rd May, 1902, in accordance with “The Counties Act, 1886.”

SPECIAL ORDER MADE BY THE WAIPU COUNTY COUNCIL, MAKING A SPECIAL RATE.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in them in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” and “The Rating Act, 1894,” and the amendments thereof, the Waipu County Council do hereby resolve, “That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on an additional loan of £1,000, to be obtained in terms of sections 21 and 22 of ‘The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,’ for constructing a dray-road between the southern boundary of the county near Mangatuna and the Waipiro Hot Springs, the said Council do hereby make and levy a special rate of ⅔d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property within the county; such rate shall be an annual-recurring rate for a period of twenty-six years, and be payable in one yearly payment on the 30th day of June in each and every year during a period equal to the currency of the loan, or until such loan is fully paid off.”
This special order was adopted on the 24th day of October, 1901, and confirmed on the 27th November, 1901.

Number of votes recorded, 2; number of valid votes for the proposal, 2; number of votes on the roll, 2; number of votes recorded against the proposal, nil.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of fourpence (4d.) per pound will be paid on the production of the first one hundred thousand pounds weight (100,000 lb.) of good marketable retorted quicksilver, free from all impurities, from any mine in New Zealand, on the following conditions, that is to say:—
- That at least one-third of the quantity is produced on or before the 31st March, 1903, and the remaining two-thirds on or before the 31st March, 1904.
