FALSE PT.—The False Pt. inner ridge buoy is replaced on its station. June.
PACIFIC OCEAN.
New Guinea.
FAK FAK ROAD.—A reef, marked by discoloured water, about 200 yds. in extent in an ely. and wly. direction, carrying a least depth of 2 ft., lies in approx. 2° 56′ S., 132° 11′ E., with tanjong Fak Fak flagstaff N. 71° E. 2⅓ miles, and ern. extr. of Panjang Isl. S. 55° E. June.
HUMBOLDT BAY.—A reef, Napobeh Reef, about 300 yds. in extent, carrying a least depth of 3 fms., with 10 to 15 fms. around, lies in approx. 2° 33⅓′ S., 140° 45′ E., with Mathilde Isl. S. 75° W. 3⅔ miles, and the ern. extr. of Cape Caillé N. 33° W. June.
New Hebrides.
TONGOA ISL.: LAIKA BANK.—The volcano, in approx. 16° 49¾′ S., 168° 32′ E., on Laika Bank, reported awash by H.M.S. “Tauranga” in 1897, was in July, 1901, an isl. about 50 ft. high. Nov.
Fiji Islands.
KANDAVU: CAPE WASHINGTON.—On 1st March, 1902, a F. white lt., elev. 208 ft. above H.W., R. 16 miles, was to be exh. from a white square lt.-h. 28 ft. high, in 19° 16¾′ S., 177° 57¾′ E., on the summit of the cape. May.
VITI LEVU: SUVA HARB.—On 1st Oct., 1901, 2 F. white lts., 6 ft. vert. apart, elev. 35 and 29 ft. respectively above H.W., were to be exh. from a square white house on black piles, in 18° 8¼′ S., 178° 24½′ E., on the nrn. extr. of the coral bank on the E. side of the entr. to the harb., with the Roman Catholic Cathedral S. 89° E. 1⅓ miles, and Suva vu Church N. 18° E. On the est. of these lts. the lt.-V. was to be withdrawn. Also, it is proposed to exh. a green lt. from each end of the new N. extension of the mole when completed (probably about end of Nov., 1901). The 2 mooring-buoys in the anchorage have been removed. Also, the wrk. of the barque “Norden” lies on the srn. edge of the wrn. reef at the entr., S. 43° W. 6½ cables from the new pile lt.-h. Dec.
WAKAYA REEF.—On 1st April, 1902, a F. white lt., elev. 75 ft. above H.W., R. 14 miles, was to be exh. from a white hexagonal lt.-h. 70 ft. high, on black piles, in 17° 41½′ S., 179° 4¾′ E., on the srn. extr. of the reef. May.
KORO: VUNAKU PT.—On 1st March, 1902, a F. red lt., elev. 200 ft. above H.W., R. 15 miles, was to be exh. from a white square lt.-h. 30 ft. high, in 17° 22¼′ S., 179° 25¾′ E., on the pt. May.
Tuamotu, or Low Archipelago.
ERNEST LEGOUVÉ REEF.—The vessel “Ernest Legouvé” is reported to have passed on 17th Dec., 1901, at 4 h. p.m., a reef about 100 yds. long, in approx. 35° 14′ S., 152° 58′ W.; and at 4 h. 20 m. p.m. another reef was obser. ahead. On going about, the reef first sighted was seen to be breaking. A reef marked “Ernest Legouvé” has been charted in this position. June.
NORTH AMERICA.—WEST COAST.
California.
SAN FRANCISCO LT.-V.—Lt.-v. No. 70 is replaced on her station (37° 45′ N., 122° 41′ W.), and the gas buoy has been withdrawn. June.
SAN FRANCISCO HARBOUR.—A whistle buoy, lower midchan. whistle buoy, black and white vert., has replaced the can buoy off Penole Pt., San Pablo Bay. May.
The S. San Francisco leading lts., nrn. side of the cut, entr. to San Bruno dredged chan., srn. part of San Francisco Bay, have been disc. The rear beacon remains as a day mark. A F. red lt., elev. 18 ft. above H.W., is exh. from a red lt.-h. surm. a pile beacon, in 13 ft. L.W., on the nrn. side of the cut, about 15 ft. in rear of the prev. site of the front lt. of the S. San Francisco leading lts. May.
SOUTH AMERICA.
Tierra Del Fuego.
STATEN ISL.—CAPE ST. BARTHOLOMEW.—A rk. nearly awash at L.W. is reported to lie in approx. 54° 58′ S., 64° 46′ W., about four miles srd. of Cape St. Bartholomew, with that cape in line with Cape South, Staten Isl. The symbol for a rk. with P.D. against it has been placed on the charts. May.

TEMPORARY LIGHT AT CAPE BRUNY.
It is hereby notified for general information that on the 1st December, 1902, and until further notice, during the time of fixing new apparatus in Cape Bruny Lighthouse, a small revolving white light (6th order dioptric port apparatus), in which the period of light to darkness will be as 3 to 1, will be exhibited from a temporary tower, which will be erected 30 yards to the westward of the permanent tower. The temporary light will be visible in clear weather from 8 to 10 miles.

SIGNAL-STATION, SOUTH BREAKWATER, GREYMOUTH.

THE Greymouth Harbour Board have notified that the signal-station on the South Breakwater at Greymouth is being shifted 1,500 ft. to seaward of its present position, and that signals will be exhibited from the new position on and after the 10th August, 1902.

THE following special order, made by the Raglan County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Counties Act, 1886.”

RAGLAN COUNTY COUNCIL.
Special Order.
THAT a special order be made altering boundaries of ridings as follows: That the portion of Waingaro Riding south of line intersecting Trig. No. 82 be added to Karamu Riding, and that the northern boundary be altered as per marked lithograph; that alteration as shown on lithograph dividing Karioi Riding into two ridings, named respectively Karioi on the west and Whaingaroa on the east, be made, the northern portion as shown to be added to Waingaro Riding, one Councillor to each riding; that portions of Blocks II. and XIV., as shown on lithograph, be taken from Whangape Riding and added to Onewhero Riding; also that Sections 1 of XIII. and 1 and 2 of IX., Maramarua, be added to Onewhero; ridings of Te Akau and Pirongia to remain as at present.
Te Akau Riding.
All that area in Raglan County, in the Provincial District of Auckland, bounded towards the north-west by the southern bank of the Waikato River to a point in line with the production of the south-western boundary-line of the Parish of Whangape; thence towards the south-east by a right line to and thence by that parish, and by the Parishes of Pepepe and Waipa, to Whaingaroa Harbour at Puketutu; and thence towards the south-west to the ocean; thence by the ocean to the place of commencement.
Onewhero Riding.
All that area in Raglan County, beginning at the intersection of the northern boundary-line of Section 119A, Block II., Awaroa Survey District, with the Te Akau Riding boundary, hereinbefore described; thence northerly by the said boundary to the Waikato River; thence along southern and western bank of said river to the intersection of the southern boundary of the Parish of Onewhero; thence westerly along said boundary to west line of Section 2, Block IX., following said line south to road-line; thence westerly along northern boundaries of Sections 3, 6, 5, 4, and 3, thence along west boundary of Section 3 to where line of Opuatia No. 3B intersects the Opuatia Stream, thence by said stream to the boundary of Parish of Whangape, following said boundary to intersection of line between Sections 90 and 101; thence along said line and boundary of N 94 south to road-line, following road-line west to intersection of line between Sections 95 and 107; thence by said line south to Block VI., Awaroa Survey District; thence west along said line to Section 119A; thence along western and northern boundaries of said section to point of commencement.
Whangape Riding.
All that area in Raglan County bounded on the north by the Onewhero Riding, hereinbefore described; thence
