Port of Port Phillip.—South Channel.
REFERRING to general notice to mariners, Victoria, dated the 24th September, 1901, page 67, regarding tidal signals exhibited from the flagstaff at the South Channel Pile Light-house, indicating the depth of water in the dredged channel north of such lighthouse, notice is hereby given that on or after the 1st January, 1903, such signals will be discontinued, and signals will be substituted therefor indicating the direction of the tidal current only in the channel past the lighthouse, as follows :—
Flood-tide Signals. Ebb-tide Signals.
By day .. Red flag.. .. Red flag with ball under.
By night .. One green light .. Two green lights.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA.
Port Adelaide Lighthouse (Wonga Shoal).
NOTICE is hereby given that during the prevalence of fog or mist a gong will be sounded at the above-named lighthouse for a period of thirty seconds in duration and at intervals of five minutes.
The sound will be audible in ordinary weather for a distance of about three miles.
This affects Admiralty Plans 1750 and 1752.

Spencer Gulf.—Approach to Port Pirie.—Eastern Shoal.
MASTERS of vessels, pilots, and others are informed that it is proposed to exhibit, on or about the 1st August next, an occulting light from a beacon to be erected on the north end of Eastern Shoal, and are advised that during the progress of the work, which may be commenced at any time, an ordinary riding light will be shown from a vessel moored in the vicinity.
A further notice will be issued giving full particulars at an early date.
This affects Admiralty Chart No. 2389B and Plan 403.

Notice to Mariners No. 49 of 1902.
SUNKEN ROCK OFF WHARARIKI POINT, NEAR EAST CAPE.

Wellington, N.Z., 19th July, 1902.
NOTICE is hereby given that Captain Post, of the Government s.s. “Tutanekei,” reports having touched on a sunken rock when at anchor at Awanui in 7 fathoms of water. The following magnetic bearings were immediately taken to locate the position of the rock :—
East Cape .. N. by E., distance ten miles.
S. extreme of reef off Wharariki Point S.W. ½ W.
The vessel was at the time drawing 13 ft., and pitching 4 ft. or 5 ft. to a considerable sea. Time of tide was low water, and at spring tide.
Charts, &c., affected : Admiralty chart No. 2527; “New Zealand Pilot,” 7th edition, 1901, chap. iv., p. 144.

MANUKAU HARBOUR.—LEADING-MARKS FOR MAIN CHANNEL.

THE Harbourmaster at Manukau reports that, as an additional mark for entering the main channel of Manukau Harbour in the day-time, a ridge of rock about 40 ft. above and behind the lighthouse has been painted white.
