Rural Lands in the Wellington Land District open for Sale or Selection.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the tenth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and two; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

These sections are situated in the Hunterville No. 1 Block, east of the Turakina River. The distance from Hunterville to the Kauaekeke Road, vid the Turakina Valley Road, is thirty miles, of which sixteen miles and a half is dray-road and the remainder horse-road. The Turakina Valley Road is formed up to the boundary of Te Ruanui Block; the Kauaekeke Road is not yet constructed. The distance from Taihape to the Turakina Valley Road is twenty-six miles, of which ten miles and three-quarters is dray-road and the remainder horse-road. The Huia Road is formed as a horse-road connecting with Whaka Road, and thence with Murray’s Track to Mangaonoho. The distance is about twenty-eight miles—eleven miles dray-road and the remainder horse-road.

The sections comprise hilly and broken country. There are about 10 acres of flat land on Section 1; about 12 acres flat on Sections 5 and 6; there are a few small flats on Sections 2, 3, and 4. The soil is clay on a papa formation. The forest comprises rimu, kahikatea, maire, rewarewa, titoki, and manuka, with usual undergrowth. The sections are well watered.

Land temporarily reserved in the Land District of Hawke’s Bay.

RANFURLY, Governor.

WHEREAS by the two-hundred-and-thirty-fifth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in the Land District of Hawke’s Bay described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purpose in the said Schedule specified at the end of the description of the land so intended to be temporarily reserved.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 29 acres 1 rood 14 perches, more or less, being Section No. 48, Block IX., Woodville Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by Section No. 44, Block IX., Woodville Survey District, and a public road, 2081 links; towards the east generally by the Manawatu River; towards the south-west by Section No. 47, Block IX., Woodville Survey District, 2851·3 links; and towards the west by Section No. 47 aforesaid, 1240 7 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 19234a, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon bordered red. For a primary-education reserve.

Fixing Sitings of District Court at Gore.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in this behalf enabling me, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby fix and appoint that sittings of the District Court of Western Otago shall be held as follows, in addition to those previously fixed and appointed:—

In the Courthouse, Gore: For civil business only, on Wednesday, the 17th day of September, and Wednesday, the 19th day of November, next.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this eighteenth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and two.

Postmaster appointed to take and receive Statutory Declarations.

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the eighth section of “The Justices of the Peace Act Amendment Act, 1888,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that

THOMAS WHITEHEAD,

being a person holding the office of Postmaster under “The Post Office Act, 1881,” at Fairburn’s, is authorised to take and receive statutory declarations under the two-hundred-and-thirty-fourth section of “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

As witness my hand, this fifteenth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and two.
