These lots are situated in the Marton Blocks Nos. 1 and 2, at distances ranging from about seven miles from Rangi-wahia and about ten miles from Mangaweka, by formed dray-roads and bridle-tracks. They comprise rough and broken country, and it may be difficult to get homestead-sites on them. Sections 16 and 17, Block XII., Hautapu, are intersected by a deep gorge. The soil on all the lots is of medium quality, resting on sandstone-and-papa formation. The forest is of a mixed character, comprising, generally, rata, tawa, &c., with usual undergrowth, but consists chiefly of birch on part of Sections 3 and 4, and almost on the whole of Sections 5, 6, 12, and 13, Block XIII., Ruahine. The lots are well watered. It is not intended to further construct the roads shown on plan, and all the lots are offered subject to this condition. Lots 2 and 3, Block XIII., Ruahine, and part of 6, Block XVI., Hautapu, are weighted with £2, for one acre grassed on Section 2.

These sections are situated in the Waimarino District, in Marton No. 3 Block. The access is from Raetihi, which is from about ten to thirteen miles distant, via the Raetihi-Ohura and branch roads, eight miles of which are formed dray-road, the remainder being formed horse-roads, roads under construction, and surveyed roads only. The sections comprise for the most part hilly land, Sections 12, 13, 14, 15, 20, 22, and 23, Block X., being rough and broken. There are small flats on Sections 14, 15, 16, 17, Block XIV., and on 16 and 19, Block X. The soil is good, resting on papa formation. The forest is of a mixed character, comprising rimu, matai, miro, tawa, &c., with the usual undergrowth. The sections are well watered.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this tenth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and two.

T. Y. DUNCAN,
Minister of Lands.
