Alterations to the Scale of Fares, Rates, and Charges in Force upon the New Zealand Government Railways.

IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under “The Government Railways Act, 1900,” I, Joseph George Ward, Minister for Railways, do hereby make the following alterations in the scale of fares, rates, and charges in force on the New Zealand Government railways open for traffic, such alterations to come into force on and after the 2nd day of June, 1902:—

PART III.—GOODS REGULATIONS.
Cancel Regulations 14 and 15.

Insert—
(14.) FRUIT AND VEGETABLES.
The maximum charges for fruit and vegetables, fresh, New-Zealand-grown, packed, will be as follows for any distance:—
s. d.
Not exceeding 56 lb. .. .. .. 0 6
Over 56 lb., but not exceeding 112 lb. .. 1 0
For every additional 56 lb. or fraction thereof .. .. .. 0 6

In addition, a charge of 3d. for each cwt. or part of a cwt. will be made for fruit and vegetables charged at these maximum rates consigned to Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, or Invercargill.
Returned empty fruit and vegetable packages will be carried free.

(15.) GAME, DEAD HARES, DEAD RABBITS, AND FRESH FISH.
The maximum charges for game, dead hares, dead rabbits, and fresh fish will be as follows for any distance:—

Not exceeding 7 lb. .. .. .. 0 6
Over 7 lb., but not exceeding 14 lb. .. 1 0
Over 14 lb., but not exceeding 28 lb. .. 1 6

In addition, a charge of 3d. for each 28 lb. or part of 28 lb. will be made for game, dead hares, dead rabbits, and fresh fish charged at these maximum rates consigned to Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, or Invercargill.

PART IV.—GOODS: LOCAL RATES.
AUCKLAND SECTION.
Class K.
Insert—
Timber, other than white-pine, from Mangapeehi and Otorohanga to Auckland, Newmarket, and Mount Eden will be charged 3s. per 100 superficial feet.

WELLINGTON-NAPIER-NEW PLYMOUTH SECTION.
Cancel—
When goods of Classes A, B, C, D, E are consigned to Wellington, except such as are consigned to private sidings at that station, or to the Railway or Glasgow Wharves for shipment there, both the classified rates, Part III., and the local rates will be increased by 1s. 6d. per ton.

PART V.—CLASSIFICATION OF GOODS, LIVE-STOCK, PARCELS, AND LUGGAGE.

"THE WEST COAST SETTLEMENT RESERVES ACT, 1892."

NOTICE TO NATIVE OWNERS AND LESSEE OF A MEETING to be held at the TOWN HALL, WAITOTARA, at 9 o’clock a.m. on TUESDAY, the 10th day of June, 1902, to fix the Rent for a NEW LEASE (subject as hereunder stated) to GEORGE HUTCHISON, of the Okoia Reserve and parts of the Ihupuku Reserve, in the Provincial District of Wellington, containing 444 acres 2 roods 17 perches (more or less), being portions of the lands comprised in Confirmed Lease No. 45.

TO Whakarua te Karihi, Keepa Heheu, Wi Taria Whakamaru, Maria te Mane, Horonuku Apia, Tarewai Kotuku, Atutahi Pirikahu, Tini Pirikahu, Taroi Pirikahu, Koroneho Pirikahu, Tainakore Turoa, Te Mere Pounamu, Mateone, Kahukaha, Horonuku Apia, Tamu Rakei, Taruke Wharanga, Te Ari Rakei, Ngakati Wharanga, Terewai, Ripeka Tauri, Harata Taiepukore, Ngauru Mere, Ihaka Takarangi, Tiopira Takarangi, Tutae te Ropihia, Mere Herepu, Kenana Herepu, Te Watikini Wakarua, Rima Whakarua, Irihapeti Raukura, Ihipera Koria, and the other Native owners of all those pieces of land, situate in the Provincial District of Wellington, together containing by admeasurement 444 acres 2 roods 17 perches (more or less), being the Okoia Reserve and portions of the Ihupuku Reserve, and being Sections Nos. 352 and 308, and part of Sections Nos. 301 and 302, Okotuku District, Block XII., Wairoa Survey District, and being parts of the lands comprised in Confirmed Lease No. 45; and to William Corry, Esq., of Wanganui, in New Zealand, solicitor, Attorney of George Hutchison, late of Wanganui, Solicitor, now in South Africa.

Whereas the above-named George Hutchison has given notice to me, under the provisions of section 8 of “The West Coast Settlement Reserves Act, 1892,” that he desires to obtain under that section a new lease of the lands above described; and I consider his application ought to be given effect to: Now, therefore, I do hereby appoint a meeting to take place between the said George Hutchison and all the Native owners of the above-described lands for the purpose of fixing the rent to be paid (subject to the question of the validity of a rent fixable by the Public Trustee under clause (d) of subsection (2) of the said section 8 on the basis of a certain valuation dated 30th August, 1897), for the said lands for the first twenty-one years of the new lease; and I fix the Town Hall, Waitotara, as the place where, and the 10th day of June, 1902, at 9 o’clock in the forenoon, as the time when, such meeting shall take place.

NOTICE TO NATIVE OWNERS AND LESSEE OF A MEETING to be held at the TOWN HALL, WAITOTARA, at 11 o’clock a.m., on Tuesday, the 10th day of June, 1902, to fix the Rent for a NEW LEASE to ELIZA HELEN BREWER of Part of the Ihupuku Reserve, in the Provincial District of WELLINGTON, containing 396 acres 3 roods 10 perches (more or less), being Portion of Land comprised in Confirmed Lease No. 45.

TO Wakarua te Karihi, Keepa Heheu, Wi Taria Whakamaru, Maria te Mane, Horonuku Apia, Tarewa Kotuku, Atutahi Pirikahu, Tini Pirikahu, Taroi Pirikahu, Koroneho Pirikahu, Tainakore Turoa, Te Mere Pounamu, Mateone, Kahukaha, Horonuku Apia, Tamu Rakei, Taruke Wharanga, Te Ari Rakei, Ngakati Wharanga, Terewai, Ripeka Tauri, Harata Taiepukore, Ngauru Mere, Ihaka Takarangi, Tiopira Takarangi, Tutae te Ropihia, Mere Herepu, Kenana Herepu, Te Watikini Wakarua, Rima Whakarua, and the other Native owners of all that piece of land situate in the Provincial District of Wellington, portion of the Ihupuku Reserve, containing by admeasurement 396 acres 3 roods 10 perches (more or less), being part of Section 344, Okotuku District, Block XII., Wairoa Survey District, and being part of the land comprised in confirmed lease No. 45, and to Eliza Helen Brewer, of Waitotara.

Whereas the above-named Eliza Helen Brewer of Waitotara, has given notice to me, under the provisions of section 8 of “The West Coast Settlement Reserves Act, 1892,” that she desires to obtain under that section a new lease of the land above described; and I consider her application ought to be given effect to: Now, therefore, I do hereby appoint a meeting to take place between the said Eliza Helen Brewer and all the Native owners of the above-described land for the purpose of fixing the rent to be paid for the said land for the first twenty-one years of the new lease; and I fix the Town Hall, Waitotara, as the place where, and Tuesday, the 10th day of June, 1902, at 11 o’clock in the forenoon, as the time when, such meeting shall take place.
