On 15th Feb., 1902, a white lt., elev. 21 ft. above H.W.,
was to be exh. from a white pillar on the foundation of the
old wall of the bulwark of Diu Castle (Conraca do Castello).
This white lt. and also the red lt. on the sea fort (Forte do
Mar) will only be exh. from 1st Sept. to 31st May. April.
AGUADA (GOA) LT. — The rev. white lt. in 15° 29′ N.,
73° 46′ E., is re-exh. April.
MURMAGAO HARB.—On 25th Feb., 1902, a F. lt. showing
red and white sectors, R. 6 miles, was to be exh. from a
white mast 49 ft. high, in 15° 24¾′ N., 73° 47′ E., at the inter-
section of the inner end of the breakwater with the quay-
wall; the white lt. is vis. through an arc of 74° over the
anchorage, the red lt. through an arc of 107° seawards.
Vessels should not leave the leading-line of Chiquilim and
Secretario lts. in one, S. 79° E., until the white lt. is
sighted. Also, the F. red lt. exh. from the extr. of the pier
was to be disc. April.
INDIAN OCEAN.
Bay of Bengal.
MASULIPATAM LT.—On 1st Aug., 1902, this lt. (16° 9¾′ N.,
81° 11′ E.) is to be altered from F. white to a group-occ.
white lt. showing 4 occs. every min. April.
VAKALAPUDI LT.—This lt. (17° 1′ N., 82° 17′ E.) has been
altered from fl. white to a group-fl. white lt., showing
3 fls. in quick succ. every 10 secs., and the temp. F. white
lt. disc. April.
NORTH AMERICA.—WEST COAST.
California.
SAN FRANCISCO ENTR.—The bell buoy about ½ mile N.-wrd.
of Noonday Rk. has been replaced by a whistle buoy, black
and red hor., marked “Noonday Rock” in white, moored in
approx. 37° 47′ N., 123° 10′ W., about 2 cables S. 37° W.
from the rk. April.
SAN FRANCISCO LT.-V. — About 1st April, 1902, lt.-v.
No. 70 (37° 45′ N., 122° 41′ W.) is to be temp. replaced by a
gas buoy, red, with “Light-vessel Moorings” in black, and
exh. a F. white lt. April.
SAN FRANCISCO HARB.—The iron beacon, cyl., red and
white hor., surm. by a spindle, is re-est. on Commission
Rk., Mare Isl. Strait. The temp. 3-pile beacon, 200 ft.
N.N.E. ¼ E. from Commission Rk., has not yet been
removed. April.
SOUTH AMERICA.
Magellan Strait, &c.
FELIX PT. — A lt.-h. exh. a fl. white lt. is intended to
be constr. on Felix Pt., approx. 52° 56½′ S., 74° 8′ W., in Sea
Reach. April.
HAVANNAH PT. — A. lt.-h. is to be constr. in 53° 10′ S.,
73° 18¾′ W., on the pt., wrn. end of Cordova Penin.
EL MORION.—A lt.-h. exh. a fl. white lt. is intended to
be constr. on El Morion, approx. 53° 34′ S., 72° 32½′ W., in
Crooked Reach. April.
STA. MAGDALENA ISL.—About the middle of April, 1902, a
group-fl. white lt. every 30 secs.—fl. 1 sec., ecl. 7 secs.,
fl. 1 sec., ecl. 21 secs.; elev. 141 ft. above H.W.; R. 17 miles—
is to be exh. from a white cyl. lt.-h. with red lantern, in
approx. 52° 55¼′ S., 70° 33½′ W., on the N. end of the isl.
Also, a F. red lt., vis. through an arc of 23°, R. 8 miles, over
the Marta Bank, and vis. through an arc of 90°, R. 3 miles,
over the shoals erd. of Sta. Margarita Isl., but the exact
bearings of these sectors have not yet been received, is to be
exh. from the same lt.-h., 25 ft. below the principal lt.
March.
East Coast.
RIO DE LA PLATA APPROACH. — With reference to prev.
notice: Further information renders it more probable that
the rk. reported by the s.s. “Willebad” in the nrn. approach
to Rio de la Plata is in about 33° 15¼′ S., 52° 24′ W., and not
in 33° 15¼′ S., 52° 14′ W., as prev. stated. The Admiralty
charts have in consequence been amended. April.
RIO GRANDE DO SUL AND MOSTARDAS LT.-Hs., POSITION
OF.—Information has been received that Rio Grande do Sul
Lt.-H. is in 32° 7′ 25″ S., 52° 4′ 33″ W. Also, that Mostar-
das Lt.-H. is in approx. 31° 16′ S., 50° 54′ W., or about
7 miles further to the erd. than charted. These two posi-
tions have been accepted, and the coast-line on the chart
adjusted to agree with them. A new edition of Admiralty
Chart No. 2522 is issued. April.

LEADING-BEACON ON NORTH BANK OF WAIKATO RIVER
BLOWN DOWN.

NOTICE is hereby given that the outer leading-beacon
on the north bank of the Waikato River entrance has
been blown down during the recent heavy westerly gales.
It will be replaced at the first convenient opportunity.

South Borough Council, is published in accordance
with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

SPECIAL ORDER made by the Council of the Borough of
Alexandra South.
THAT, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it
in that behalf by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,”
and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Council of
the Borough of Alexandra hereby resolves as follows:
That for the purpose of providing the interest, sinking fund,
and other charges on a loan of £7,000 authorised to be
raised by the Council of the Borough of Alexandra under
the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for
and in connection with the construction and acquisition of
waterworks for the supply of pure water for the use of the
inhabitants of the said borough, and the acquisition of water
for such supply, the said Council of the Borough of Alex-
andra hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1s. in the
pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of
the Borough of Alexandra, comprising all that area
bounded towards the north-west by Block VII., Leaning
Rock District, 11919 links; towards the north-east by
Block VII., Leaning Rock District, 7615 links; towards
the east by the Manuherikia River, 8800 links; and towards
the south by the Clutha River, 11000 links: and that such
special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the
currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the
1st day of May and the 1st day of November in each and
every year during the currency of such loan, being a period
of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
I hereby certify that the foregoing order has been duly
made and confirmed by the Council of the Borough of
Alexandra.
