Holiday.—Coronation of His Majesty the King.

Plants declared to be Noxious Weeds in Patea County.—Notice No. 706.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Patea County Council has, by special order, declared ragwort, burdock, and giant burdock to be noxious weeds within the meaning of “The Noxious Weeds Act, 1900,” in the district under its jurisdiction.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA.

MASTERS of vessels and others are hereby informed that a triangular-framed beacon, with circular head and painted white, has been erected on the foreshore, five (5) miles S.W. from Kingston jetty, to indicate the best holding-ground in Lacepede Bay.

Vessels should anchor in from two (2) to five (5) fathoms L.W.S., with the beacon bearing S.E. half a mile to two (2) miles distant.

QUEENSLAND.

Closing North Channel, Port Curtis.

Notice is hereby given that, in consequence of the decreasing depth at the inner end of the North Channel entrance to Port Curtis, it is no longer safe for ordinary navigation, and its use must be confined to small coasters, with local knowledge, by daylight.

The marks and lights hitherto existing as aids to the navigation of the North Channel will be discontinued from and after 10th May.

Masters of vessels must use the main entrance to Port Curtis.

Masters of vessels calling at the port of Diu are cautioned not to approach within 325 ft. from the N.E. extr. of the Citadel (Conraca do Castello), as the stones from the demolition of the bulwark (Conraca) are lying about there. April.
