THE following special order, made by the West Taieri Drainage Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

WEST TAIERI LAND-DRAINAGE DISTRICT.
Special Order confirmed.
SPECIAL ORDER, making Special Rate for paying Interest and other Charges on a Loan of £800 for Drainage-works raised under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Land Drainage Act, 1893,” the West Taieri Land-drainage Board hereby resolve as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £800, authorised to be raised by the West Taieri Land-drainage Board under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for drainage-works, the said West Taieri Land-drainage Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1½d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the West Taieri Land-drainage District, comprising all that area in the Land District of Otago bounded towards the north-east by the Outram–Allanton Road from the northernmost corner of Section 7, Block I., Taieri Survey District, to its junction with Lakefield or Centre Road at the southern boundary of Section No. 14 (river section); thence towards the south by the said Lakefield or Centre Road to the road known as Millar’s Road, at Section No. 54, Block IV., Maungatua Survey District; thence towards the south-west by the said Millar’s Road, forming the western boundary of Block III., Maungatua Survey District, to Lee’s Creek; thence towards the north-west by Lee’s Creek to the road forming the north-western boundary of Block II., Taieri Survey District; thence by that road and the road forming the north-western boundary of Block I., Taieri Survey District, to the place of commencement—containing 5,223 acres, more or less: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of June in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off: first payment of rate to be made on 1st June, 1902.

Notice to Local Authorities under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”
The Treasury,
Wellington, 3rd April, 1902.
PURSUANT to section 63 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Colonial Treasurer hereby gives notice that on Monday, the 2nd June, 1902, he will be prepared to consider applications from local authorities for loans under this Act.
Applications should be addressed to the Colonial Treasurer, and must be posted so as to arrive at the Treasury on or before the 31st May, 1902.

NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to an application in that behalf made to me by the Wellington Amalgamated Restaurant and Oyster-saloon Keepers’ Industrial Union of Employers, registered No. 235, situated at Wellington, the registration of that industrial union will be cancelled at the expiration of six weeks from the date hereof unless within the six weeks specified proceedings be commenced by a member or other person interested in or having some claim on the funds of the industrial union to set aside such cancellation, and the same is set aside accordingly.

Supreme Court of New Zealand.—Additional Rules and Regulations under “The Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Act, 1867,” and the various Acts amending Same.
In the matter of “The Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Act, 1867,” and “The Divorce Act, 1898.”
WHEREAS it is enacted by “The Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Act, 1867,” that the Judges of the Supreme Court, or any three of them, have the power from time to time to make rules and regulations concerning the practice, pleading, and procedure under the said Act:
Now, we, the undersigned Judges of the Supreme Court, in pursuance of the powers granted to us, do hereby make the following rules and regulations in addition to the rules and regulations made on the 3rd day of April, 1901.

Rule 10 of the said rules is hereby revoked, and in place thereof the following rule is hereby made:—

Copies of the petition and writ of summons shall be served personally unless a Judge or the Registrar in his absence shall otherwise order.

Rule 32 of the said rules is hereby revoked, and in place thereof the following rule is hereby made:—

But where service is impracticable, a Judge, or the Registrar in the Judge’s absence, may, on affidavit showing the circumstances of the case and its necessity, give special directions as to service, or publication in lieu thereof.

Rule 37 of the said rules is hereby revoked, and in place thereof the following rule is hereby made:—

Every cause that is to be tried at any sitting of the Court shall be entered for trial in a list to be kept for that purpose by the Registrar. Such entry may be made by any party to such cause, and shall be made at least three clear days before the day appointed for the sitting of the Court, and no cause shall be tried at such sitting which has not been so entered, except by leave of the Court.
These additional rules take effect on and after the 1st day of June, 1902.

Bonus for the Production of Quicksilver.

Wellington, 7th June, 1900.
NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of fourpence (4d.) per pound will be paid on the production of the first one hundred thousand pounds weight (100,000 lb.) of good marketable retorted quicksilver, free from all impurities, from any mine in New Zealand, on the following conditions, that is to say:—

That at least one-third of the quantity is produced on or before the 31st March, 1903, and the remaining two-thirds on or before the 31st March, 1904.

No bonus will be payable until the whole of the one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced as stipulated to the satisfaction of an officer to be appointed by the Minister of Mines, and on whose certificate alone the bonus will be paid.

In the event of more than one person producing the required quantities of quicksilver before the dates named, inquiry will be made by the officer above referred to, when, if it is found that each applicant is equally entitled to a bonus, the amount will be divided in proportion to the quantities produced by each applicant, but in no case shall any bonus be paid until at least one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced in the aggregate.
