Requisition as to taking Land compulsorily under “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900.”

NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended, on behalf of His Majesty, to take compulsorily, under the provisions of “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900,” and its amendment, the land whose acreage, description, and classification, as also the names and addresses of whose owners, are specified in the Schedule hereto; and every owner of the land, and also every other person having any estate or interest therein, are hereby required to serve their respective claims for compensation on the Minister of Lands in the form and manner and within the period provided by the said Act.

SCHEDULE.

LONGBUSH AND TABLE-LANDS ESTATES.

  1. ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 26,995 acres and 25 perches, be the same a little more or less, and being the lands described as follows: (1) Ngawakaakupe No. 2A, containing 5,520 acres 3 roods 19 perches; (2) Ngawakaakupe No. 2c, 2,605 acres 2 roods 33 perches; (3) Ngawakaakupe No. 2D, 4,203 acres 2 roods 22 perches; (4) Ngawakaakupe No. 2B, 4,475 acres 1 rood 20 perches; (5) Kehemene No. 1, 80 acres; (6) Ngawakaakupe No. 3A, 2,021 acres 3 roods 26 perches; (7) Ngawakaakupe No. 3B, 1,000 acres; (8) Ngawakaakupe No. 3c, 3,087 acres 2 roods 25 perches; (9) Ngawakaakupe No. 3D, 4,000 acres: situated in the Survey Districts of Huangarua and Wainuioru: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 19264, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon bordered red.

  2. The Minister’s classification of the land:—

Second-class .. 26,995 acres and 25 perches

The areas being shown on the said plan.

  1. The land intended to be taken is the whole of the estate.

  2. Names and addresses of the owners of the estate are as follows: (1) Ngawakaakupe No. 2A, Hamuera Tamahau Mahupuku, of Papawai; (2) Ngawakaakupe No. 2c, Horiana Natanahira (or King), of Papawai; (3) Ngawakaakupe No. 2D, Niniwa Heremia, of Kehemene; (4) Ngawakaakupe No. 2B, Te Raro te Rangikatuakina, of Wanganui; (5) Kehemene No. 1, the Public Trustee, of Wellington; (6) Ngawakaakupe No. 3A, Hamuera Tamahau Mahupuku, of Papawai; (7) Ngawakaakupe No. 3B, Rihara te Parera, of Papawai; (8) Ngawakaakupe No. 3c, Hamuera Tamahau Mahupuku and Martha Mahupuku; (9) Ngawakaakupe No. 3D, H. Stratton Izard, of Greytown.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Borough of South Dunedin.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of South Dunedin, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

BOROUGH OF SOUTH DUNEDIN.

Notice is hereby given that at a poll, taken on the 10th day of April instant, of the ratepayers of the Borough of South Dunedin, upon a proposal of the Council of the said borough to raise a special loan of £1,500 for the purpose of completing the purchase of Section 5, Block O, South Dunedin, and erecting thereon a Town Hall and public offices, and furnishing the same respectively with fitting furniture, the security for the said loan and the interest thereof to consist of the said parcel of land and the buildings for the time being thereon, and the rents, issues, and profits thereof, and also the general revenues of the borough, subject to the existing pledges of such general revenues, the said loan to be repayable at the end of twenty-one years, and it not being proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising the loan or the interest for the first year, the following votes were recorded:—

For the proposal, 183 votes; against the proposal, 125 votes: majority for the proposal, 58 votes: informal votes, 5.

There being a majority of votes polled in favour of the proposal, I hereby declare the proposal to be carried.

Special Order made by the Pukekohe West Road Board, County of Manukau.

THE following special order, made by the Pukekohe West Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

PUKEKOHE WEST ROAD BOARD.

Special Order.

THAT, for the purpose of providing interest at the rate of 3½ per cent. per annum and other charges on a loan of £1,495 authorised to be raised by the Pukekohe West Road Board, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” for the purpose of forming, grading, and metal-ling the undermentioned roads in the Buckland Subdivision, as follows—from Buckland Railway-station to the south-west corner of Jeffries’s farm, £600; from south-west corner of Jeffries’s farm towards Pukekohe West Township, £233; from south-west corner of Jeffries’s farm towards Kelvin Bridge, £467; from Kelvin Bridge to southern boundary of Pukekohe West Road District, £195—the said Pukekohe West Road Board does hereby make and levy a special rate of ¾d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all the rateable property of the Buckland Special Rating District, comprising the Buckland Subdivision, excepting that portion of Lot 42 which is within the loan area, and now in the occupation of Adolphus Wright—the loan area containing 4,171 acres (be the same a little more or less); and that such special rate shall be an annual rate equal to the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off; and that such rate shall be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of June and the 1st day of December in each and every year.

I certify that the above special order has been duly made.

THE following special order, made by the Bull’s Town Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

BULL’S TOWN BOARD.

Special Order.

Notice is hereby given that at a special meeting of the above Board held on 26th September, 1901, the following resolution was adopted, viz.:—

“That it is the intention of the Bull’s Town Board, by virtue of the provisions of ‘The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,’ and a warrant issued under the hand of His Excellency the Governor in terms of section 113 of ‘The Public Works Act, 1894,’ and dated 6th March, 1901, to borrow the sum of £600, under ‘The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act Amendment Act, 1899,’ for the purpose of paying part of the Board’s share of the cost of erecting a new bridge over the Rangitikei River at Bull’s. And for the purpose of providing interest and other charges on the said loan of £600 the Bull’s Town Board doth hereby make and levy a special rate of 2d. in the pound sterling upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property within the Bull’s Town District, such rate to be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and payable in one sum on the 1st day of May in each year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.”

And it is hereby further notified that a special meeting of the Board will be held on the 31st October, 1901, to confirm such resolution.
