IT is hereby notified that, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred by section 9 of “The Fisheries Conservation Act, 1884,”

ERNEST ALFRED RADFORD, of Gebbie’s Valley,

has been appointed an officer for the purposes of that Act for that part of the Provincial District of Canterbury to the north of and including the Rakaia River, and for the waters of the Clarence River which are within the County of Marlborough.

Notice to Mariners No. 29 of 1902.

NEW BUOY OFF THAMES RIVER.

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 25th April, 1902.

NOTICE is hereby given that a red buoy has been laid down at the mouth of the Thames River, outside Opani Point, on the west side of the channel. It is moored in 4 ft. of water L.W.O.S., and marks the edge of the channel, as the edge of the bank there is steep-to.

The following are the magnetic bearings from the buoy:—
Opani Point in one with Kopn wharf light, S. 59°E, 2½ cables.
Shortland Light, North,
Charts, &c., affected: Admiralty Charts Nos. 1108 and 2543; “New Zealand Pilot,” 7th edition, chap. iii., page 114.

Plants declared to be Noxious Weeds in Hawera County.—Notice No. 697.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Hawera County Council has by special order declared giant burdock and ragwort to be noxious weeds within the meaning of “The Noxious Weeds Act, 1900,” in the district under its jurisdiction.
