THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Wanganui, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1902.”

BOROUGH OF WANGANUI.
In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900.”
The Hon. the Colonial Secretary, Wellington.
I, ALEXANDER HATRICK, Mayor of the Borough of Wanganui, do hereby, in pursuance of the provisions of the Fifth Schedule of the above Act, give you notice that on the 13th day of November, 1902, a poll of the electors of the Borough of Wanganui was taken, under the provisions of the said Act, on the following proposal or resolution of the Council of the said borough :—
“That the Council take steps to raise by way of special loan, under the provisions of ‘The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,’ the sum of £70,000, to be applied as follows—
(a) for constructing waterworks (as defined by section 287 of the said Act) for the supply of water for the use of the inhabitants of the borough, and for extending and enlarging the present waterworks (as above defined) of the said borough, and for purchasing or acquiring lands, or rights, or easements in connection with such construction, extension, or enlargement, and for any purpose incidental or in relation to any of the above purposes; and that the Council establish a sinking fund during the currency of the loan for or towards payment of such loan at its maturity of an amount representing ½ per cent. of the amount for the time being of the said loan actually borrowed, and do permanently appropriate and pledge a special rate of 1s. 6d. in the pound upon all rateable property in the borough as security for such loan and interest, and for the purposes of providing such interest and sinking fund; and that debentures be issued for such loan in accordance with the provisions of ‘The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,’ each to be payable on the 1st day of November, 1914; and that the first year’s interest on such loan be paid out of such loan.”
And I further give you notice that the said proposal or resolution was on the said 13th day of November, 1902, duly carried.

I, James Purnell, of the Town of Wanganui, Town Clerk of the Borough of Wanganui, do solemnly and sincerely declare: (1.) That I am, and was on the 13th day of November, 1902, Town Clerk of the Borough of Wanganui. (2.) That all proceedings required by law to be taken in or towards obtaining the sanction of the electors of the Borough of Wanganui to a proposal to borrow the sum of £70,000 by way of special loan, a copy of which proposal is hereunto annexed and marked “A,” have been duly taken, and that the resolution in favour of the said proposal was on the said 13th day of November duly carried.
And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”
