Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Frankley Road
Board, is published in accordance with the provisions
of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

FRANKLEY ROAD BOARD.

RESULT of poll of ratepayers of Frankley Road District,
taken on Tuesday, 7th October, 1902, on the proposal to
borrow £2,000, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,”
for the following purposes: £500 to be spent in forming and
metalling the upper portion of Frankley Road from present
metal to Welbourne Gate, £1500 to be spent in purchasing
land for road-deviation, making tunnel, cutting down, form-
ing, and metalling the first two miles of Frankley Road
from the borough boundary; to pay out of such loan the
cost of raising it, and the first year’s interest upon same; to
strike as security on this loan a special rate of 3d. in the
pound upon the whole of the lands comprised within the
Frankley Road Rating District. The loan is for a period of
forty-one years, bearing interest at the rate of 3½ per cent.
per annum:—

Number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 39;
number of votes recorded against the proposal, 1.

As the number of valid votes recorded in favour of the
proposal exceeds three-fifths of the total number of votes
recorded at the poll, I declare the said proposal carried.

Requisition as to taking Land compulsorily under “The
Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900.”

NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended, on behalf of
His Majesty, to take compulsorily, under the pro-
visions of “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act,
1900,” and its amendment, the land the acreage, descrip-
tion, and classification of which, as also the names and
addresses of the owners of such land, are specified in the
Schedule hereto; and every owner of the land, and also
every other person having any estate or interest therein, is
hereby required to serve their respective claims for compen-
sation on the Minister of Lands, in the form and manner and
within the period provided by the said Acts.


SCHEDULE.

MOUNT VERNON ESTATE.

  1. ACREAGE and Description.—All that parcel of land,
    situate in the Land District of Hawke’s Bay, containing
    by estimation 1,800 acres, more or less, being part of
    the Mount Vernon Estate, in the County of Waipawa,
    and comprising Blocks 12, 13, 72, 71, 80, 81, and parts of
    Blocks 11 and 14, Waipukurau Survey District, being
    bounded towards the east by the public road between
    Block 14 and the Tarewa Native Reserve, and by part of
    Block 14 to the Waipawa River; towards the north by the
    Waipawa River to the east boundary of Block 10; towards
    the west by the eastern boundary of Block 10 to the southern
    extremity of Block 81; thence towards the south by a line
    at right angles to aforesaid eastern boundary of Block 10 to
    the starting-point: as the same is delineated on the plan
    marked S.G. 48440, deposited in the Head Office, Department
    of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land
    District, and thereon edged with red.

  2. The Minister’s Classification of the Land.—First-class.

  3. The land intended to be taken is less than the whole of
    he owner’s estate.

  4. The acreage and the Minister’s classification of the
    whole estate is: Acreage, 15,656 acres, more or less; Minis-
    ter’s classification, second-class.


  1. (a.) The owner in fee-simple is Arthur Harding, farmer,
    Siberia, Ashhurst, as executor of the will of John Harding,
    deceased.

(b.) The registered owners of any lesser estate or interest
are as set out hereunder:—

John Sawers, Charles Robert Cowper, and Charles James
Henderson, all care of Bank of Australasia, Collins
Street, Melbourne: First mortgagees of the whole
estate.

The Bank of Australasia: Second mortgagees of the
whole estate.

Jeremiah Hayes, of Waipukurau, farmer: Lessee of
part of Block I., containing 45 acres or thereabouts.

George Gardner, of Waipawa, farmer: Lessee of part of
Block XIV., containing 13 acres 2 roods 17 perches, or
thereabouts.

Alexander Todd, of Waipawa, medical practitioner:
Lessee of part of Block 72, containing 19 acres 3 roods
21 perches, or thereabouts.

Catherine Annaud, wife of James Stewart Annaud, boot-
maker: Sub-lessee of the aforesaid interest of Alex-
ander Todd.

(c.) In addition to the persons above mentioned, the fol-
lowing persons are stated by the owner to be in occupation
of portions of the said estate: Adolf Brewer, James Williams,
Francis Shanley, George Elford, Mrs. Mitten, John Brinson,
James McIntyre, Mrs. Cox, T. Blank, M. Maroney, W.
Brown, — King, and David Armand.

First Meeting of Board of Hawera Hospital District
appointed.

HIS Excellency the Governor has, in terms of section 9
of “The Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act,
1885,” been pleased to appoint that the first meeting of the
Board of the District of Hawera shall be held on Saturday,
the 13th day of December, 1902, at 11 o’clock a.m., at the
Hawera County Council Office, Hawera, and that such
meeting be presided over by John Wemyss Scott.

light will be exhibited from the new apparatus on or after
the 1st December, 1902.

Notice to Mariners No. 86 of 1902.

BUOY, WELLINGTON HARBOUR.

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 9th December, 1902.

NOTICE is hereby given that a red buoy having a conical
upper end, and carrying a staff and ball painted red,
has been laid down in a depth of 34 ft. at L.W.O.S., distant
6½ cables S.S.E. of the Hope Shoal buoy.

The following magnetic bearings give the position of the
buoy:—

Pencarrow Lighthouse .. .. S. 3° E.
Somes Island Lighthouse .. .. N. 15° W.
Beacon Hill Signal-station .. .. S. 34° W.

A staff and ball has been fixed on the head of the Hope
Shoal buoy, which lies in a depth of 30 ft. at L.W.O.S.

Masters of vessels entering or leaving the port steering
close to and to westward of these buoys will be in deep
water.

Charts, &c., affected: Admiralty Chart No. 1423; “New
Zealand Pilot,” 7th edition, chap. v., pages 167 to 176.
