Vesting a Portion of a Reserve in the South Waimakariri River Board.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-ninth day of November, 1902.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto forms part of a reserve which has been permanently set apart for river-conservation purposes: And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, is is expedient to vest the said land in the South Waimakariri River Board:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the fourth section of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” doth hereby declare that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the reserve mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall become vested in the South Waimakariri River Board, in trust, for river-conservation purposes: Provided that the right is reserved to the Courtenay, Templeton, Riccarton, and Avon Road Boards, each and severally, of taking and removing shingle from the land described in the Schedule hereto, without charge, from positions to be indicated by the said South Waimakariri River Board:

Provided also that the right is reserved to the Selwyn County Council of constructing and maintaining water-races through or over any portion of the said land.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District, containing 3,220 acres, more or less, being part of Reserve No. 3542, situated in Blocks VI., VII., and VIII., Rolleston Survey District, and II., III., V., and VI., Christchurch Survey District. Bounded towards the east by White’s Bridge, towards the south by the southern bank of the Waimakariri River, towards the west by the South Waimakariki River Board’s Protective Embankment No. 11 continued to the northern boundary of the Selwyn County, and towards the north by said boundary of Selwyn County: save and except therefrom all freehold land contained within the above-described boundaries: as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked S.G. 46701, deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured pink.

Land taken for a Native School at Ramoto.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this third day of December, 1902.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE W. C. WALKER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for a certain public work, to wit, a Native school:

And whereas it has been made a condition of the establishment of the said Native school that the site required therefor shall be a free gift from the Native owners to His Majesty the King, and the Native owners have agreed to such condition, and it has been made to appear that such agreement is sufficient for the purposes intended to be effected thereby:

And whereas by an order of the Native Land Court, made under the provisions of “The Native Land Court Act, 1886,” and its amendments, bearing date the twenty-first day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-two, certain aboriginal natives, as in the said order mentioned, were declared to be the owners of the portion of the Taupara Block within which the said land is situated:

And whereas, as required by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” a map has been prepared showing accurately the position and extent of the said land, and such map is hereto attached:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and “The Public Works Acts Amendment Act, 1900,” and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that the land shown upon the said map and described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of the said Native school, and shall vest in His Majesty the King, as from the fifteenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and three.

In the Land District of Hawke’s Bay; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan as described above, deposited in the Education Department, at Wellington, and thereon bordered pink.

Powers delegated to the Chertsey Domain Board under “The Public Domains Act, 1881.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this fifth day of December, 1902.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE W. C. WALKER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Public Domains Act, 1881,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, doth hereby revoke a certain Order in Council, dated the twenty-fourth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six, making delegation of certain powers in manner as therein appears; and doth hereby, with the like advice and consent, and in respect of the land hereinafter mentioned, delegate all the powers conferred by the said Act, except the powers conferred by sections five and twelve thereof, for the period of ten years from the date hereof (unless previously altered or revoked under the said Act), to the undermentioned persons, who shall be known as the Chertsey Domain Board, namely,—

JAMES STRINGFELLOW,
PETER DOIG,
RONALD CAMPBELL,
JAMES COPLAND,
JOHN KNOX, and
JOHN IRONSIDE

(herein referred to as “the Board”), subject to the stipulations hereinafter contained, that is to say,—

  1. The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on the second Tuesday in each month, at eight o’clock p.m., at the Schoolroom, Chertsey, or at such other time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board. The first meeting shall be held on Tuesday, the thirteenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and three.

  2. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman or by any two members of the Board, provided that two days’ notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting; and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.

  3. Any three members of the Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  4. The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting, and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the second Tuesday in January in every succeeding year thereafter, elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his successor.

  5. The Board shall prepare and submit at each annual meeting a report of the proceedings of the Board for the previous year ending on the thirty-first day of December, together with a statement of the receipts and expenditure of the Board for such year. A copy of every such report and statement, certified by the Chairman to be correct, shall be sent to the Minister of Lands as soon as possible after each annual meeting.

  6. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present
