Arrangements for First Elections, &c., West Taieri Drainage District.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint

JOHN GRANT,
of Outram, to be Returning Officer for the purpose of conducting the first elections of five members of the Board of Trustees for the West Taieri Drainage District as constituted under “The Land Drainage Act, 1893”; also to appoint Thursday, the 7th day of November, 1901, to be the date, and the Courthouse, Outram, to be the place, for holding such election; also to appoint Thursday, the 14th day of November, 1901, at 1 o’clock p.m., to be the time, and the Courthouse, Outram, to be the place, at which the first meeting of the Trustees shall be held.

Retention of Title of “Honourable” by Mr. Alfred Jerome Cadman.

My Lord,—I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your Lordship’s despatch No. 24, of the 5th of April, recommending that Mr. Alfred Jerome Cadman may receive permission to retain the title of “Honourable.”

  1. In reply, I have to refer you to Lord Ripon’s despatch, General, of the 2nd August, 1894, and to state that, as Mr. Cadman has now ceased to be a member of the Executive Council, the usual notification has been made in the London Gazette that the King has been pleased to approve of the retention of the title of “Honourable” by Mr. Cadman, who has served for more than three years as a member of the Executive Council of the Colony of New Zealand.

MORETON BAY.—PILOTAGE CRUISING-GROUND.
Masters of vessels departing by way of the North-west Channel, Moreton Bay, are reminded that pilots should be discharged at or within the prescribed Pilot Cruising-ground, off the entrance to the North Channel. This is necessary to prevent delay to vessels arriving from the south requiring pilots.

Charts affected: Nos. 1670, 1029, 1068; and Australia Directory, Vol. ii.
