HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve, under paragraphs 211 and 213, Volunteer Regulations, 1895, of the addition of the under-mentioned Rifle Volunteer Corps and Cycle Corps in Canterbury Military District to the “North Canterbury Battalion of Infantry Volunteers,” in the order in which they are set forth below, and with effect from 1st August, 1901:—
J Company — Canterbury Highland Rifle Volunteers (Christchurch).
L Company—Ellesmere Guards Rifle Volunteers (Doyles-ton).
M Company—Canterbury Native Rifle Volunteers (Christ-church).
Christchurch Volunteer Cycle Corps (Christchurch).

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the under-mentioned alteration in “The Rules for New Zealand Rifle Clubs,” as published in New Zealand Gazette No. 41, dated 25th April, 1901, page 952, paragraph 12, line 2:—
Delete the word “seventeen,” and substitute the word “seven” in lieu.

Services of a Volunteer Corps accepted.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to accept, under clause 39, (1), “The Defence Act, 1886,” the services of the under-mentioned Volunteer Corps:—

with headquarters at Feilding. Date of acceptance, 27th July, 1901.

Mounted Rifle Battalions disbanded and re-formed.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to disband, as from 31st July, 1901, the 1st Battalion North Canterbury Mounted Rifle Volunteers, and the 2nd Battalion North Canterbury Mounted Rifle Volunteers, and to approve, under Paragraphs 211 and 213, Volunteer Regulations, 1895, of the under-mentioned corps in the Canterbury Military District being formed into two battalions of Mounted Rifle Volunteers, under the designations and with headquarters as set forth below, and with effect from 1st August, 1901:—
1st Battalion, North Canterbury Mounted Rifle Volunteers (Headquarters, Christchurch).
A Company—Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry Volunteers (Christchurch).
B Company—Canterbury Mounted Rifle Volunteers (Christchurch).
C Company—Ellesmere Mounted Rifle Volunteers (Leeston).
D Company—Malvern Mounted Rifle Volunteers (Waddington).
E Company—Waimakariri Mounted Rifle Volunteers (West Melton).
2nd Battalion, North Canterbury Mounted Rifle Volunteers (Headquarters, Culverden).
A Company—Kaikoura Mounted Rifle Volunteers.
B “ Amuri Mounted Rifle Volunteers (Waiau).
C “ Cust Mounted Rifle Volunteers.
D “ North Canterbury Mounted Rifle Volunteers (Tuahiwi).
E Company—Cheviot Mounted Rifle Volunteers (Mackenzie).
