Districts constituted under “The Marriage Act, 1880.”

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in the Governor by “The Marriage Act, 1880,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing marriage districts known as the Raglan, Te Awamutu, Rangitikei, and Bull’s Districts, and do proclaim and declare that the territory heretofore comprised within the said districts is hereby divided anew into five marriage districts, the names and boundaries whereof shall be as follow:—
KAWHIA DISTRICT.
All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded towards the north-west generally by the Aotea Harbour and the north-western boundary-line of the Matakowha Block to the south-western boundary of Raglan County: thence towards the east generally by Raglan County to Mahaukura Trig. Station; thence by a right line to Te Ake-o-Hikopiro Trig. Station; thence by a right line to the easternmost corner of Section No. 1, Block VI., Pirongia Survey District; thence by the eastern boundary-line of that section and the eastern boundary-lines of Sections Nos. 1, 2, and 5, Block IX., to the road forming the north-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 6 and 7, Te Rau-a-Moa Settlement; thence by that road and the northern boundary-lines of Sections Nos. 1, 4, 7, and 8, Block X., to the north-eastern corner of the last-mentioned section; thence by the eastern boundary-line of that section to its south-eastern corner; thence by a right line to the north-eastern corner of Section No. 1, Block XIV., Pirongia Survey District; thence by the eastern boundary-line of that section and the northern boundary-line of Sections Nos. 1 and 2, Block II., Orahiri Survey District, and of Section No. 1a, Block III., to the easternmost corner of the last-mentioned section; thence by the south-eastern boundary-line of that section and the south-eastern boundary-lines of Sections Nos. 5 and 7, Block II., to the south-eastern corner of the last-mentioned section; thence by the eastern boundary-line of Blocks VI., X., and XIV., Orahiri Survey District, to the south-eastern corner of Block XIV. aforesaid: thence towards the south generally by the southern boundary-lines of Orahiri and Kawhia South Survey Districts to the northernmost corner of Section No. 3, Block IV., Maungamangero Survey District; thence by the production of the north-western boundary-line of that section to the southern boundary-line of Section No. 6, Block XVI., Kawhia South Survey District; thence by Blocks XV., XIV., and XIII., Kawhia South Survey District, to the Marakopa River; thence by that river to the sea: and thence towards the west generally by the sea to the place of commencement.
RAGLAN DISTRICT.
All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded towards the north generally by the southern shore of Wangape Lake and by a right line running west-south-west from the south-western angle of the Wangape Lake to the west coast; thence towards the west generally by the sea to Aotea Harbour; thence towards the south generally by Aotea Harbour and the Matakowha Block to the western watershed of the Waipa River; thence towards the east generally by that watershed and the summit of the Tera and Kakarimata Ranges to the northernmost end, and thence by a right line to the southern shore of Wangape Lake to the place of commencement.
TE AWAMUTU DISTRICT.
All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded towards the north generally by the Marakopa River from the sea to the southern boundary-line of Block IX., Kawhia South Survey District; thence by Blocks IX., X., and XI., and by Section No. 6, Block XVI., Kawhia South Survey District, to a point in line with the north-western boundary-line of Section No. 3, Block IV., Maungamangero Survey District; thence by a right line to the northernmost corner of that section; thence by the Kawhia South and Orahiri Survey Districts to the south-eastern corner of Block XIV., Orahiri Survey District: thence towards the west by Blocks XIV., X., and VI., Orahiri Survey District, to the south-eastern corner of Section No. 7, Block II.; thence by Sections Nos. 7 and 5, Block II., and Section No. 1a, Block III., and Sections Nos. 2 and 1, Block II., Orahiri Survey District, to the south-eastern corner of Section No. 1, Block XIV., Pirongia Survey District; thence by that section to its north-eastern corner; thence by a right line to the south-eastern corner of Section No. 8, Block X.; thence by Sections Nos. 8, 7, 4, and 1, Block X. aforesaid, to the road forming the north-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 7 and 6, Block IX.; thence by that road to the eastern boundary-line of Section No. 5; thence by Sections Nos. 5, 2, and 1, Block IX., and
Section No. 1, Block VI., Pirongia Survey District, to the easternmost corner of the last-mentioned section; thence by a right line to Te Ake-o-Hikopiro Trig. Station; thence by a right line to Mahaukura Trig. Station; and thence by the western boundary-line of Pirongia Parish to the western watershed of the Waipa River; thence by that watershed to the southern boundary of Karamu Parish: thence again towards the north generally by that parish to the Waipa River; thence by the Tuhikaramea, Te Rapa, and Pukekura Parishes to the southernmost corner of the last-mentioned parish; thence by a right line to Mangatautari Trig. Station; thence by a right line to the confluence of the Little Waipa and Waikato Rivers: thence towards the east generally by the Waikato River to its intersection by a right line running from Uraura Trig. Station to the mouth of the Waihora Stream at Lake Taupo; and thence by that line to the mouth of the said Waihora Stream: thence towards the south generally by a right line running in the direction of Pukearuhe Mountain to the eastern boundary-line of the Taranaki Land District; thence by that boundary-line and the Mokau River to the ocean: and thence again towards the west generally by the ocean to the Marakopa River, the place of commencement.
RANGITIKEI DISTRICT.
All that area in the Wellington Land District bounded towards the north-west generally by the Wangaehu River from the sea to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary-line of the block formerly known as the Rangitikei Block: thence towards the north-east by Wanganui County, and the Ridings of Mangahoe and Paraekaretu, in Rangitikei County: towards the south-east by the Rangitikei River to River Road; thence by that road to the Marton-Bull’s Road at its junction with the road from Greatford; thence by the said Marton-Bull’s Road to Read’s Line; thence by the said Read’s Line and the southern boundary-lines of Sections Nos. 56 and 64, Block VII., Rangitoto Survey District, to the Great North-western Trunk Road; thence by that road to Section No. 37, Block V.; thence by Sections Nos. 37, 98, and 97, Block V., Rangitoto Survey District, Section No. 117, Block IX., Rangitoto Survey District, Sections No. 165, Block V., Koitiata Survey District, No. 166, Block IV., 167, Block V., and 170, Block IV., Koitiata Survey District, and the north-western boundary-line of the last-mentioned section produced to the sea: and towards the south-west by the sea.
BULL’S DISTRICT.
All that area in the Wellington Land District bounded towards the north generally by a line being the production of the south-eastern boundary-line of Section No. 173, Koitiata Survey District, and by Sections Nos. 173, 171, 169, 168, 115, 116, again by Section No. 115, Block IV., Koitiata Survey District, and by Sections Nos. 99 and 58, Block V., Rangitoto Survey District, to the Great North-western Trunk Road; thence by that road to the southern boundary-line of Section No. 64, Block VII., Rangitoto Survey District; thence by the southern boundary-line of Sections Nos. 64 and 56 to Read’s Line; thence by the said Read’s Line to the Marton-Bull’s Road; thence by that road to its junction with the road from Greatford; and thence by River Road to the Rangitikei River: thence towards the south-east generally by the Rangitikei River to the sea: and thence towards the west by the sea.
And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come into operation on the sixteenth day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and one.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-fourth day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and one.
