to be Returning Officer for the purpose of conducting the first election of six members of the Board of Trustees for the Inch-Clutha Drainage District, as constituted under “The Land Drainage Act, 1893”; also to appoint Friday, the 23rd day of August, 1901, to be the date, and the Drillshed, Inch-Clutha, to be the place, for holding such election; also to appoint Friday, the 30th day of August, 1901, at 12 o’clock noon, to be the time, and the Inch-Clutha River and Road Board’s Office at Stirling to be the place, at which the first meeting of trustees shall be held.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Greymouth, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900.”

BOROUGH OF GREYMOUTH.
Result of poll on the proposal of the Greymouth Borough Council to raise a special loan of £6,500 for the purposes set forth in the following Schedule—Town Hall, £4,000; gas-holder, £1,500; excess of appropriation for purchase of gasworks, £1,000: £6,500—taken on the 10th day of July, 1901:—
Number of votes for the proposal, 331; number of votes against the proposal, 80; number of informal votes, 30.
As the number of votes for the proposal exceeds the number of votes against the proposal, I hereby declare the resolution in favour of the proposal to have been duly carried.

In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900.”
I, Andrew Matheson, Mayor of the Borough of Greymouth, do solemnly and sincerely declare,—
That all proceedings required by law to be taken in or towards obtaining the sanction of the ratepayers to the proposal of the Greymouth Borough Council to raise a special loan of £6,500 for the purposes set forth in the following Schedule—Town Hall, £4,000; gas-holder, £1,500; excess of appropriation for purchase of gasworks, £1,000: £6,500—have been duly taken, and that the resolution in favour of the proposal has been duly carried.
And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”
