THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Matakohe Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

MATAKOHE ROAD BOARD.

THE following is the result of a poll taken at the Board’s office, Matakohe, on Saturday, 12th January, 1901, upon a proposal to raise a loan of £550 for forming and metalling road from Wharf to Main Road, from Post-office to Public Hall, and from thence to Main Road at the church :—
Number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 34 ; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 4.
A majority of the votes recorded being in favour of the proposal, I therefore declare it carried.

REFERRING to General Notice to Mariners, Victoria, dated 1st June, 1898, page 106, it is hereby notified that the Pilot-station on Snake Island will shortly be removed to Sunday Island, from where the tide signals will then be exhibited; also that when such removal takes place the fixed green light exhibited from the old lighthouse on Snake Island will be discontinued.

NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to an application on that behalf made to me by the Christchurch Master Bakers’ Industrial Union of Employers, registered No. 130, situated at Christchurch, the registration of that industrial union will be cancelled at the expiration of six weeks from the date hereof unless within the six weeks specified proceedings be commenced by a member or other person interested in or having some claim on the funds of the industrial union to set aside such cancellation, and the same is set aside accordingly.

Bonus for the Production of Quicksilver.

Mines Office,
Wellington, 7th June, 1900.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of fourpence (4d.) per pound will be paid on the production of the first one hundred thousand pounds weight (100,000 lb.) of good marketable retorted quicksilver, free from all impurities, from any mine in New Zealand, on the following conditions, that is to say :—

  1. That at least one-third of the quantity is produced on or before the 31st March, 1903, and the remaining two-thirds on or before the 31st March, 1904.
  2. No bonus will be payable until the whole of the one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced as stipulated to the satisfaction of an officer to be appointed by the Minister of Mines, and on whose certificate alone the bonus will be paid.
  3. In the event of more than one person producing the required quantities of quicksilver before the dates named, inquiry will be made by the officer above referred to, when, if it is found that each applicant is equally entitled to a bonus, the amount will be divided in proportion to the quantities produced by each applicant, but in no case shall any bonus be paid until at least one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced in the aggregate.
