Rural Land in the Wellington Land District open for Sale or Selection.
RANFURLY, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural land enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the twenty-seventh day of August, one thousand nine hundred and one; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

This lot is situated in the Awarua and Te Kapua Blocks, about fifteen miles from Hunter ville, the access being by dray-road along Poukiore, Watershed Roads, and Murray’s Track. It comprises rough broken land, with no flats to speak of. The soil is of fair quality, on papa formation. The forest is heavy, and of a mixed character, and contains rimu, matai, rata, tawa, &c., with the usual undergrowth. The lot is well watered by small streams.

Notice respecting Proposed Borough of Eltham, County of Hawera.

PURSUANT to section 175 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” His Excellency the Governor directs it to be notified that a petition has been presented to him praying for the constitution of the area described in the Schedule hereto as a borough under the said Act, to be named the Borough of Eltham. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the constitution of the said borough which they may desire to lodge within one month from the first publication of this notice.
Such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Colonial Secretary, Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
All that area, forming part of Block X. of the Survey District of Ngai re, in the County of Hawera, containing about 1,745 acres, more or less. Bounded as follows, that is to say: Commencing at the point of junction of the Mangawhero Stream and the Waingongoro River, on the east side of the said Waingongoro River; thence northerly along the said east side of the Waingongoro River to the south-west corner of Section No. 12; thence northerly along the western boundaries of Sections Nos. 12 and 6 to a point in a line with the north boundary of Section No. 10; thence easterly through Sections Nos. 6 and 7, and along the north boundary of said Section No. 10, to the north-east corner of said Section No. 10, on the Mountain Road; thence southerly along the east boundary of said Section No. 10 to a point on the Mountain Road in a line with the north boundary of Section No. 29; thence easterly along the said north boundary of Section No. 29 to the west boundary of Section No. 27; thence south along the west boundaries of Sections Nos. 27 and 33 to the south-west corner of Section No. 33; thence east along the south boundary of Sections Nos. 33 and 34 to the south-east corner of Section No. 34, on the Rawhitiroa Road; thence by a line due south, through Sections Nos. 45 and 46, to the north boundary of the Mangawhero Road; thence westerly along the north side of the said road to the east side of the Mountain Road; thence northerly along the Mountain Road to the north bank of the Mangawhero Stream; thence along the north bank of the Mangawhero Stream to the starting-point: all the said sections being sections of Block X. of the said Survey District of Ngai re.
