has been appointed an officer for the purposes of that Act for the Wellington Acclimatisation District, as defined by notification under “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 22nd June, 1899.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Hawera, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

HAWERA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The Hon. the Colonial Secretary, Wellington.
SIR,—I, Charles Edwin Major, Mayor of the Borough of Hawera, in the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, pursuant to section 39 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” give you notice that, on the 14th day of June, 1901, a poll of burgesses of the said Borough of Hawera was taken, under provisions of the said Act, and also under the provisions of “The Local Government Voting Reform Act, 1899,” on a proposal of the Council of the said borough to borrow the sum of £3,170 (part of a total sum of £7,170, £4,000 of which has been already borrowed and expended on drainage-works for the Borough of Hawera) by way of special loan for the purpose of completing drainage-works for the Borough of Hawera under the provisions of the said Acts, a copy of which proposal is next hereinafter set out.
