ment for the encouragement of the manufacture of condensed milk in New Zealand is claimed, that the manufacture of the said milk complies with the whole of the conditions under which the bonus is offered, which conditions are published in the New Zealand Gazette of June, 1901. And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

Bonus for the Production of Quicksilver.

Mines Office,
Wellington, 7th June, 1900.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of fourpence (4d.) per pound will be paid on the production of the first one hundred thousand pounds weight (100,000 lb.) of good marketable retorted quicksilver, free from all impurities, from any mine in New Zealand, on the following conditions, that is to say:—

  1. That at least one-third of the quantity is produced on or before the 31st March, 1903, and the remaining two-thirds on or before the 31st March, 1904.

  2. No bonus will be payable until the whole of the one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced as stipulated to the satisfaction of an officer to be appointed by the Minister of Mines, and on whose certificate alone the bonus will be paid.

  3. In the event of more than one person producing the required quantities of quicksilver before the dates named, inquiry will be made by the officer above referred to, when, if it is found that each applicant is equally entitled to a bonus, the amount will be divided in proportion to the quantities produced by each applicant, but in no case shall any bonus be paid until at least one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced in the aggregate.

Civil Service Senior Examination.

NOTICE is hereby given that, for the Civil Service Senior Examination of January, 1902, candidates may read “The Tempest” as an alternative to “King Lear,” one of the special books already prescribed for the examination. The examination papers will contain alternative questions on these two plays, in addition to questions on the other work set.

Tenders for Letter-carriers’ and Telegraph Messengers’ Uniforms, including Caps and Helmets.

General Post Office,
Wellington, 6th June, 1901.

TENDERS will be received at the General Post Office, Wellington, until Friday, the 28th June, for the manufacture within the colony, from New-Zealand-made material, of letter-carriers’ uniforms — namely, tunic, trousers, riding-trousers, overcoat, and overcoat with cape; and for caps, helmets, and felt hats.

The term of contract to be for three years, from the 1st July, 1901, to the 30th June, 1904.

Samples may be seen at all Chief Post-offices, where also specifications and form of tender may be obtained.

Tenders will at the same time be received for uniforms and overcoats for telegraph messengers, samples of which may be seen at any of the principal telegraph-offices.

Tenders quoting price for each garment, accompanied by samples of material, to be addressed to the Hon. the Postmaster-General, General Post Office, Wellington, and indorsed outside “Tender for uniforms.”

The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

Notice of Vesting of Land in the Public Trustee under “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

WHEREAS I, the undersigned, the Public Trustee, have, for the purposes of “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894,” made due inquiries with respect to the land described in the Schedule hereunder written, and the owner thereof, and have, in respect of the said land, given the notices prescribed by section 4 of the said Act, and have in all respects complied with the provisions of the said section: And whereas I have not thereby ascertained who the owner is, and believe that such owner is not in the colony, nor has such owner established his title to the said land, as required by the said Act: I hereby give notice that the said land is, under and by virtue of the said Act, vested in me, as the Public Trustee as aforesaid, as from the date of the publication hereof, and will be administered under the said Act, the assessed value of the said land being less than £100.
