WAIMATE ROAD BOARD.
SPECIAL ORDER re 10 per Cent. Additional Loan to the Opunake Road Loan of £550.
THAT, to secure the repayment of a loan of £55, and interest thereon, being an additional advance of 10 per cent. on the Opunake Road £550 loan, raised under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and its amendments, for the purpose of forming, ditching, culverting, graveling, and metalling the Opunake Road from the Kiri Road eastward to a point two chains east of the Punehu Stream, a special annual-recurring rate of 3d. in the pound be made and levied for a period of forty-one years over the Opunake Road Special Rating Area, comprising the following sections—the whole of Section 1, the southern portion of Section 2 (50 acres), the northern portion of Section 9 (160 acres 1 rood 20 perches), the northern portion of Section 10 (49 acres 3 roods), of Block X., Kaupokonui Survey District; the northern portions of Sections 51 and 52 (38 acres 1 rood 35·5 perches), the whole of Section 72, the northern portion of Section 74 (35 acres 3 roods 13·5 perches), and the northern portion of Section 75 (58 acres 3 roods 25 perches), of Block XI., Opunake Survey District—such rate to be payable, if required, in one instalment, on the 1st day of January in each year of the aforesaid period.

OPAHEKE ROAD BOARD.
RESOLVED, “That the Opaheke Road Board does by special order bring into force the provisions of ‘The Noxious Weeds Act, 1900,’ and declare all the weeds mentioned in the Second Schedule of the said Act to be noxious weeds within the said district, the said special order to take effect from the date of its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.”
I hereby certify the above special order was made by the Opaheke Road Board on the 13th April, 1901, as by law required.

Bonus on Mineral Oil produced from Shale obtained in New Zealand.—Further Extension of Time.

THE time for notifying intention to claim the under-mentioned bonus, and for making such claim, has been further extended as follows :—
Notice of intention to claim the bonus must be given in writing to the Colonial Secretary not later than the 30th June, 1901.
The claim must be made before the 31st December, 1901.

Bonus on Mineral Oil produced from Shale obtained in New Zealand.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus will be paid for the production of mineral oil under the following conditions :—

A bonus of 1s. per gallon (£5,000) will be paid on the first 100,000 gallons of mineral oil produced from shale obtained in the Colony of New Zealand, the oil to be of a quality approved of by Government, and to be sold at a price not exceeding 1s. a gallon at any port of shipment in the colony.

Notice of intention to claim the aforesaid bonus must be given in writing to the Colonial Secretary not later than the 31st December, 1899.

The claim must be made before the 30th June, 1900.

The first claimant who proves to the satisfaction of the Government that he has fulfilled all the conditions to be the recipient of the bonus.

The other conditions—as to quantity, priority, quality, and value—to be fulfilled to the satisfaction of an officer appointed for the purpose by the Government.

Bonus for the Encouragement of the Manufacture of Condensed Milk in New Zealand.—Notice No. 644.

A BONUS for the encouragement of the manufacture of condensed milk in New Zealand is offered under the following conditions.
The total amount offered is £1,000, and it will be paid at the rate of one-fifth of a penny per pound to the manufacturer or manufacturers of the first 1,200,000 lb. of long-keeping condensed milk manufactured in this colony between the 1st day of July, 1901, and the 30th day of June, 1902, subject to the following provisions :—

Part-payments of the bonus may be made with respect to each calendar month during the above-mentioned period. Applications for such payments must be made in writing and forwarded so as to reach the Secretary for Agriculture within fourteen days after the end of the month with respect to which the claim is made, and must be accompanied by a statutory declaration (for form see Schedule) to the effect that the conditions of these regulations have been duly complied with.

The bonus will be allotted in strict order of priority of receipt of such applications and declarations.

The bonus will only be granted on good sound marketable milk of the fair average quality of the condensed milk manufactured by the applicant during the period for which the bonus is available.

The milk must be either (a) long-keeping unsweetened condensed milk, made from normal full-cream milk, and containing at least 10 per cent. of butter-fat, with no added preservative, or (b) long-keeping sweetened condensed milk made from normal full-cream milk, and containing not less than 10 per cent. of butter-fat, with no added preservative other than pure cane-sugar.

No application for payment of bonus will be entertained unless the manufacturers have given the department an opportunity to take samples whenever it so desires from the milk manufactured during the period with respect to which the claim is made, nor unless satisfactory proof is given to the said Secretary as to the quantity of condensed milk manufactured in terms of these conditions, and generally in relation to all matters affecting such claim.

The department reserves to itself the right to refuse to grant any bonus on any condensed milk which does not appear to comply with the above regulations.
