Native Land at Waitangi, Chatham Islands, taken as a Site
for a Courthouse and other Public Buildings.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this first day
of June, 1901.

Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto
is required to be taken for a public work, to wit,
the construction of a Courthouse and other public buildings
at Waitangi, Chatham Islands :
And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native
owners, and the title thereto is not derived from the Crown :
And whereas a map of the said land has been prepared in
duplicate, as required by the eighty-eighth section of “The
Public Works Act, 1894” :

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
vested in him by the said Act, and of all other powers in
any wise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, doth hereby declare that the land shown upon such
map, and described in the Schedule hereto, shall be deemed
to be taken for the purposes of the public work hereinbefore
mentioned ; and the said land shall vest in His Majesty the
King as from the fifteenth day of July, one thousand nine
hundred and one.

SCHEDULE.

Approximate Area of the Parcel of Land taken. Being Portion of Situated in the Township of
A. R. P. 1 1 6 Lot 66, Kekerione No. 1 Block Waitangi, Chatham Islands.

In the Land District of Wellington ; as the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 19298,
deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at
Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, and
thereon coloured purple.

Additional Regulation under “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900.”

RANFURLY, Governor.

PURSUANT to and in exercise of the powers in this
behalf conferred upon him by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” His Excellency the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand doth hereby make the following
additional regulation under that Act :—

REGULATION.

(1.) For the purposes of section 175 of “The Municipal
Corporations Act, 1900,” the term “district electors,” and
for the purposes of section 176 of the same Act the term
“electors,” mean and include all persons who are entitled
to vote at the election of a member of any local authority
within the area to which those sections respectively relate.

(2.) Clause 34 of the regulations made under “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and dated the 14th day of
January, 1901, shall, with all necessary modifications, be
read and construed subject to this regulation.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this tenth day of June, one thousand nine
hundred and one.

IN pursuance of the powers vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and the Acts amending the
same, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that from
and after the date hereof hares shall cease to be within the
operation of the said Acts within the South Malvern Road
District.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this fifteenth day of June, one thousand nine
hundred and one.

Warrant closing Road-line in the Ohakea Settlement.

RANFURLY, Governor.

WHEREAS by section sixty-nine of “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900” (hereinafter
termed “the said Act”), it is enacted that where on the
report of the Surveyor-General it appears that unformed
and unused road-lines intersecting any land acquired under
the said Act are not suitable to the subdivision of the land,
the Governor may close such road-lines, and declare them
subject to the said Act :
And whereas the Surveyor-General has so reported :
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly,
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
in exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the
said Act, do hereby close the road-line described in the
Schedule hereto, and declare it to be subject to the said Act,
and to be deemed to be a portion of the land acquired under
the said Act, and that it may be disposed of accordingly.

and deposited in the District Office, Department of Lands
and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured as above mentioned.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this fifteenth day of June, one thousand nine
hundred and one.

Revoking a Warrant appointing Trustees for the Pukekura Public Cemetery.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in me by the forty-fifth section of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
revoke the Warrant appointing the Waipa County Council
trustees for the Pukekura Public Cemetery, dated the
twentieth day of December, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-four, and published in the New Zealand Gazette
No. 134, of the twenty-fourth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this fifteenth day of June, one thousand nine
hundred and one.

Fresh Notice of Application to proclaim the Garden Gully, together with all its Tributaries, Watercourses for the Deposit of Tailings, &c.

RANFURLY, Governor.

WHEREAS by Proclamation issued on the sixteenth
day of July, one thousand nine hundred, the watercourse described in the First Schedule hereto was, in pursuance of section one hundred and eight of “The Mining Act, 1898,” as amended by section twenty-two of “The Mining Act Amendment Act, 1899,” constituted and set apart as a watercourse into which might be discharged any tailings, débris, and waste water produced by or resulting from mining operations carried on under the said Acts, and in which or on the banks of which mining operations may be lawfully carried on :

And whereas the said watercourse was incorrectly described in the Proclamation aforesaid, and in the precedent notice relative thereto : And whereas by reason of the premises it is expedient to issue a fresh notice that application has been made to set apart by Proclamation the proper watercourse known as Garden Gully, being a tributary of the Waikaka River :
