any wise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby declare that the land shown upon such map, and described in the Schedule hereto, shall be deemed to be taken for the purposes of the public work hereinbefore mentioned; and the said land shall vest in His Majesty the King as from the fifteenth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and one.

WHEREAS by the two-hundred-and-thirty-fifth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the Land Districts of Auckland, Taranaki, Wellington, Nelson, Marlborough, Canterbury, Otago, and Southland described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified at the end of the descriptions respectively of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, being Section No. 46A of the Parish of Waiau, containing by admeasurement 5 acres, more or less. Bounded towards the east and south by the eastern portion of Section No. 46 of the Parish of Waiau, 900 links and 595 links respectively; towards the west by the western portion of Section No. 46 aforesaid, 780 links; and towards the north-west by a public road, 604 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a public-school site.
All that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 17 acres 2 roods 17 perches, more or less, situate in Block XVI., Ohinemuri Survey District, and being portions of Favona and Brilliant Special Claims and part Crown land, commencing at a point on the south-east side of the Mataura Road distant 4722·5 links in a south-west direction from the Oldfield Road Bridge (over the Ohinemuri River). Bounded towards the north-west by a line, 3974·4 links; towards the north-east by a line, 500 links; towards the south-east by a line, 4886·6 links; and again towards the north-west by Mataura Road, 956·5 links, to the commencing-point: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a rifle range.
TARANAKI.
All that parcel of land in the Land District of Taranaki, containing by admeasurement 1 rood, more of less, being Subdivision No. 1 of Section No. 46, Block XI., Ngaiare Survey District. Bounded on the north-east by Rawhitiroa Road, 200 links; on the south-east by Subsection No. 2 of Section No. 46, Block XI., Ngaiare, 125 links; on the south-west by the said Subsection No. 2 of Section No. 46, Block XI., Ngaiare, 200 links; on the north-west by the said Subsection No. 2 of Section No. 46, Block XI., Ngaiare, 125 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Taranaki. For a site for a public hall.
WELLINGTON.
All that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre and 28 perches, more or less, being Section No. 224, Township of Alfredton. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 221; towards the east by Section No. 225; towards the south by Jackson Terrace; and towards the west by Section No. 223: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Wellington. For approaches to a ford and ferry.
All that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre and 35 perches, more or less, being Section No. 225, Township of Alfredton. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 221; towards the east by Bowen Street; towards the south by Jackson Terrace; and towards the west by Section No. 224: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Wellington. For approaches to a ford and ferry.
All that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 11 acres 2 roods, more or less, being Section No. 9, Block VI., Makotuku Survey District. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 6; towards the east by the road reserve along the Makotuku Stream; and towards the west by the Makotuku Valley Road: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Wellington. For preservation of scenery, and plantations.
All that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 3 roods 37·9 perches, more or less, being parts of Sections Nos. 15, 16, and 17, and Section No. 20, Township of Ngaturi. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 14; towards the east by a public road and Section No. 1; towards the south by a public road; and towards the west by parts of Sections Nos. 15, 16, and 17, and Sections Nos. 18 and 19: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Wellington. For gravel.
All that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 roods, more or less, being Sections Nos. 6 and 13, Block V., Township of Taihape. Bounded towards the north by Tui Street; towards the east by Sections Nos. 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1; towards the south by Kuku Street; and towards the west by Crown lands: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Wellington. For a site for police buildings.
NELSON.
All that parcel of land in the Nelson Land District, containing by admeasurement 9 acres 1 rood 2 perches, more or less, being Sections Nos. 8 and 9, Square 152 (Block XIII.), Oparara Survey District. Bounded towards the north by a public road, 748 links, and by Section No. 7, 600 links; towards the east by Section No. 7, 500 links, and by Section No. 10, 1200 links; towards the south and south-west by a public road on the high-water mark of the Karamea River, 373, 572, 515, 574, and 158 links respectively: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Nelson. For harbour purposes.
MARLBOROUGH.
All that parcel of land in the Marlborough Land District, being Motu Ngaro Island, situated in Gore Survey District as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Lands and Survey Office, Blenheim. For preservation of native fauna and flora.
CANTERBURY.
All that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 10 acres, more or less, being Section No. 3541 (in red), Block IX., Ophihi Survey District. Bounded on the eastward for a distance of 1225 links by the eastern side of the abandoned road forming part of the western boundary of Reserve No. 1200; thence westerly at a right angle to the road forming the eastern boundary of Rural Section No. 21803; thence south-westerly and south-easterly along the said road to the commencing-point: save and excepting thereout the stream intersecting the area hereby described, and the right of the Crown to take any necessary road-line to give access to the Crown lands situated to the north of this reserve: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Christchurch. For gravel.
OTAGO.
