A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the North Island Main Trunk Railway from a point at or near Marton to Te Awamutu, via Murimotu, Taumaranui, and the Ongarue River Valley (hereinafter termed “the said railway”), is a railway the construction of which is authorised by “The Railways Authorisation Act, 1884,” which Act is, in the eighth section thereof, declared to be a special Act authorising the construction of such railway: And whereas the said railway has been partly constructed, and it has been determined to construct and maintain a further portion of the same:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and in exercise of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle line of the said further portion of the said railway shall be that defined and set forth in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point in Block II., Rangi Survey District, marked 67 miles on a railway survey-peg distant about 10 chains in an easterly direction from the Ongarue River, and distant about 15 chains in a southerly direction from the junction of the Oyweponga Stream with the Ongarue River, which point is also the termination of a portion of the line of railway as described in a Proclamation dated the 13th day of January, 1900, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 5, of the 18th day of January, 1900; proceeding thence generally in a southerly direction along the left bank of the Ongarue River for a distance of about 6 miles 74 chains, where it crosses the said Ongarue River; thence generally in a south-easterly direction along the right bank of the said river for a distance of about 1 mile 57 chains, where it again crosses the aforesaid river; thence generally southerly and easterly for a distance of about 3 miles 29 chains to the left bank of the Upper Wanganui River: in all a total distance of about 12 miles: and passing in, into, through, or over the following lands—viz., Native and other lands in the Rangitoto-Tuhua Block No. 6039 (in red), situated in Blocks II. and IV., Rangi Survey District, in the Land District of Taranaki; and Blocks IX., XIIIa., and XIII., Tuhua Survey District, in the Land District of Auckland; Native and other lands in the Pongahuru Block No. 6114n (in red), situated in Block XIII., Tuhua Survey District, and Block I., Piopiotea Survey District, in the Land District of Auckland; Native and other lands in the Taumaranui Block No. 6114g (in red), situated in Blocks I. and II., Piopiotea Survey District aforesaid—and terminating at a point in the said Piopiotea Survey District distant about 9 chains from the left bank of the said Upper Wanganui River, the said point being distant about 234 chains due east and about 2 chains due north of Te Peka Trig. Station No. 1698: including all adjoining and intervening places, lands, reserves, roads, rivers, streams, and watercourses: in the manner delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 19255, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this first day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and one.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the Heriot Extension Railway—namely, an extension of the Waipahi-Heriotburn Branch Railway in the direction of Rae’s Junction (hereinafter termed “the said railway”)—is a railway the construction of which is authorised by “The Railways Authorisation Act, 1899”: And whereas it has been determined to construct and maintain a portion of the same, namely, the SpyIaw Section:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and in exercise of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle line of the said portion of the said railway shall be that defined and set forth in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point in Section No. 27, Block IV., Greenvale Survey District, distant about 6½ chains in a southerly direction from the north-western corner of said Section No. 27, the said point being the termination of a portion of the Waipahi-Heriotburn Branch Railway, as described in a Proclamation dated the 17th day of August, 1882, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 70, of the 24th day of August, 1882; proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction for a distance of about 3 miles 40 chains, and passing in, into, through, or over the following lands—viz., Section 27, railway reserve, reserve for road and railway, Section 21, quarry reserve, Block IV., Greenvale Survey District; Section 14 and road and railway reserve, Section 15 and road and railway reserve, Section 17 and road and railway reserve, Section 18 and road and railway reserve, Section 20 and road and railway reserve, Block VII., Crookston Survey District; Section 4 and road and railway reserve, Block VIII., Crookston Survey District—and terminating in said Section 4 at a point distant about 30 chains in a north-westerly direction from the south-eastern boundary thereof: including all adjoining and intervening places, lands, reserves, roads, rivers, streams, and watercourses: all in the Land District of Otago: as the same is delineated by a full red line on the plan marked P.W.D. 19249, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.
