Proclaiming the Orowaiti River, in the Land District of Nelson, together with its Tributaries, to be Watercourses for the Deposit of Tailings, &c.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the one-hundred-and-fifty-second section of “The Mining Act, 1891” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is enacted that the Governor in Council may from time to time, by Proclamation published in the Gazette, proclaim and declare that any watercourse shall be a watercourse into which tailings, mining débris, and waste water of every kind used in, upon, or discharged from any claim or licensed holding shall be suffered to flow or be discharged:

And whereas not less than ninety days’ notice has been published, in the manner provided by the said section, that application has been made to the Governor to proclaim the watercourse hereinafter mentioned, and its tributaries, to be watercourses for the purposes of the said section mentioned:

And whereas His Excellency the Governor has decided to exercise the powers conferred upon him by the said Act:

Now, therefore, His Excellency Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers conferred by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby proclaim and declare that the whole of the watercourse described in the Schedule hereto, together with its tributaries, shall be a watercourse into which tailings, mining débris, and waste water of every kind used in, upon, or discharged from any claim or licensed holding adjacent to such watercourse shall be suffered to flow or be discharged; and, with the like advice and consent, His Excellency doth hereby prescribe that this Proclamation shall take effect on and after the twenty-ninth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and one.

SCHEDULE.

NELSON LAND DISTRICT.

That river known as the Orowaiti River, which flows north-westerly from its source in the Mount Rochfort Range until it discharges into the ocean; and also the several tributaries thereof.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-seventh day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and one.

Extension of Time for Preparation of County Rolls
County of Grey.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-seventh day of May, 1901.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS it has been made to appear that, owing to unavoidable circumstances, the preparation of the rolls for the County of Grey, and the taking of certain steps consequent on such preparation, cannot be made and taken within the times limited by “The Counties Act, 1886,” and it is expedient to extend the said times respectively:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that the several dates mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall be the respective dates for taking the several steps set out in the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

  1. For preparing the defaulters’ list and the rolls for ridings within the County of Grey: Until the 30th May, 1901.
  2. Time for which such list and rolls shall be open for inspection: From the 4th June, 1901, to the 27th June, 1901.
  3. Time for appeals against the said rolls: Until the 12th July, 1901.
  4. Revision Courts may sit for hearing applications with reference to the said rolls, and adjourn: Until the 3rd August, 1901.
  5. Time when the said rolls, having been duly corrected and signed, shall come into force: On the 13th August, 1901.

Setting apart Reserve under “The Kauri-gum Industry Act, 1898.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-seventh day of May, 1901.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by “The Kauri-gum Industry Act, 1898” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is enacted that the Governor in Council is authorised under the said Act to set apart any specified area of Crown lands within a kauri-gum district to be a kauri-gum reserve under the said Act: And whereas it is expedient to create and set apart the kauri-gum reserve hereinafter mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby set apart the area of Crown lands described in the Schedule hereto as a kauri-gum reserve, with the name set over the description of such reserve in the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

HOBSON COUNTY.

Te Kopuru No. 3 Kauri-gum Reserve: 591 acres and 29 perches. For Te Kopuru Settlement.

Te Kopuru No. 3 Kauri-gum Reserve.

All that area in the Auckland Land District, being Sections Nos. 114, 115, 116, 117, 118, and 119 of the Parish of Kopuru, containing by admeasurement 591 acres and 29 perches, more or less. Bounded towards the north-east generally by Sections Nos. 107, 104, and 108 of the Parish of Kopuru; towards the east generally by a public road; towards the south-west generally by Sections Nos. 56, 98, 122, 121, and 120 of the Parish of Kopuru aforesaid; and towards the west by a public road to the point of commencement.
