Native Pigeons may be taken or killed in certain Native
Districts.

RANFURLY, Governor.
PURSUANT to the powers vested in him by “The
Animals Protection Act Amendment Act, 1895,” and
“The Animals Protection Acts Amendment Act, 1900,” and
upon the recommendation of the Colonial Secretary, I,
Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that the Native
districts in the North Island described in the Schedule
hereto shall be excluded from the operation of section seven
of “The Animals Protection Act Amendment Act, 1895,”
from the thirteenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred
and one, until the thirteenth day of June, one thousand nine
hundred and one, both days inclusive; and I do further
notify that native pigeons may be taken or killed in the
said districts by any Maori or half-caste Maori during that
period: Provided, however, that no sale of any such game
shall take place within such districts as aforesaid.

SCHEDULE.

All the forest country in those portions of the Counties of
Rotorua, Piako, and Tauranga lying to the north and west
of Lake Rotorua, and situated in the Survey Districts of
Rotorua, Otanewainuku, Maketu, Rotoiti, Tapapa East,
Patetere North East, Horohoro, and Horohoro West.

All the forest country in that portion of the Counties of
Rotorua and Whakatane lying to the east of Lakes Rotorua
and Rotoiti, and situated in the Survey Districts of Rotoiti,
Maketu, Waihi South, Rotoma, and Ruawahia.

All the forest country in those portions of the Counties of
West Taupo and Clifton more particularly known as the
Ohura South Block.

All the forest country in those portions of the Counties of
Clifton and Kawhia more particularly known as the Rangi-
toto Tuhua Block.

All the forest country in those portions of the Counties of
West Taupo and Clifton situated in the following Native
Blocks: Wharepuhunga, Pouakani Blocks, Maraeroa Blocks,
Ketemaringi, Tihoi, Hurakia, Waihaha Blocks, Hauhunga-
roa, Puketapu, Hohotaka, Whangaipeke, Raumata, Puke-
poto, Waione, Oraukura, Puketi, Taurewa Blocks, and
portion of Waimarino.

All the forest country in that portion of West Taupo
County situated in the Survey Districts of Mangaku and
Pukawa, and known as the Kakaramea Bush.

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by “The
Electric Lines Act, 1884” (hereinafter termed “the
said Act”), and by the regulations made thereunder on the
25th March, 1895, and published in the New Zealand Gazette
of the 4th April, 1895, the following officers, at the addresses
respectively set against their names, are hereby appointed
Transmitting and Receiving Officers for the purpose of
dealing with all notices by telegraph sent under the said
Act or regulations, and of signing such certificates in rela-
tion to the service of any such notices as are required or
authorised to be signed or given under the said Act or the
regulations aforesaid:—
