Requisition as to taking Land compulsorily under “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900.”

NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended, on behalf of His Majesty, to take compulsorily, under the provisions of “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900,” the land commonly known as the “KUMEROA” ESTATE, whose acreage, description, and classification, as also the names and addresses of whose owners, are specified in the Schedule hereto; and every owner of the land, and also every other person having any estate or interest therein, are hereby required to serve their respective claims for compensation on the Minister of Lands in the form and manner and within the period provided by the said Act.

SCHEDULE.

KUMEROA ESTATE.

  1. ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 3,600 acres, more or less, being original Sections Nos. 9, 17, 18, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 34, 35, 36, 37, 39, and part of Section 3, all of Block IX., Woodville Survey District, and original Sections Nos. 22, 23, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, and parts of original Sections Nos. 18, 19, 20, all of Block XIII., Tahoraite Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east generally by a road forming the northern boundaries of original Sections Nos. 17, 18, 24, and part of 23, Block IX., Woodville Survey District, to a point in line with the north-western boundary-line of Section No. 22 of Block IX., Woodville Survey District aforesaid: thence towards the north-west by a right line across that road to the westernmost corner of Section No. 22 aforesaid; thence by the north-western boundary of that section: thence again to the north-east generally by the Manawatu River to the easternmost corner of Section No. 22 aforesaid; thence by a right line across the Manawatu River to the northernmost corner of original Section No. 28, Block XIII., Tahoraite Survey District: thence towards the north by original Section 16 and part of original Section 17: thence towards the east by lines intersecting original Sections Nos. 18, 19, and 20 to a road forming the south-eastern boundary of original Section No. 30; thence by a line across that road to the northernmost corner of original Section No. 22; thence by the road forming the north-eastern boundary of Section 22 aforesaid to original Section No. 21; thence by that section and the road forming the eastern boundary of original Section No. 23 to the easternmost corner of that section: thence towards the south by the southern boundary-line of the said Section No. 23 aforesaid: thence towards the west by original Section No. 24 (E.R.) and the eastern boundary-line of that section produced across the road: thence again towards the south by the road forming the northern boundary of Section 24 aforesaid to a point in line with the western boundary-line of that section: thence again towards the east by a right line across a road to the north-western corner of Section No. 24 aforesaid: thence again towards the east by that section to its south-western corner: thence again towards the south by the southern boundary-line of original Section No. 25 to the south-west corner of that section: thence towards the west by original Sections Nos. 5, 6, 7, and 8 of Block IX., Woodville Survey District, to the north-east corner of the last-mentioned section: thence again towards the south by the said Section No. 8 and the northern boundary-line of that section produced to the western side of the road forming part of the northern boundary of that section: thence towards the south-east generally by the said road to the road which intersects original Section No. 3 of the said Block IX., Woodville Survey District; thence by the last-mentioned road to the Manawatu River; thence by a right line to the road at the easternmost corner of original Section No. 34 of the said Block IX.; thence by the road forming the southern boundary of the said Section No. 34 to the south-eastern corner of original Section No. 33: thence again towards the west by original Sections No. 33 and 27, the crossing of a road, and by original Section No. 16, all of Block IX. aforesaid, to the north-western corner of original Section No. 17, the place of commencement: excepting therefrom Section No. 38 (Education Reserve), Block IX., Woodville Survey District: as the said estate is delineated on the plan marked S.G. (19234), deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District.

  2. The Minister’s Classification of the Land.—
    First class: Section No. 22, part 23, 37, 36, 34, and part of 3, Block IX., Woodville Survey District, about

Second class: Sections Nos. 9, 17, 18, 24, 25, 26, 35, 39, Block IX., Woodville Survey District, and Sections Nos. 22, 23, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, and parts 18, 19, 20, all of Block XIII., Tahoraite Survey District, about

Total

The area of each class being shown on the said plan in distinctive colours.

  1. The land intended to be taken is the whole of the estate.

  2. Name and Address of the Owner of the Estate.—
    The owner in fee-simple is Thomas Ezekiel Crosse, of Woodland, Hastings, Hawke’s Bay, sheep-farmer, excepting Section 29, Block XIII., Tahoraite Survey District, an area of 332 acres, the owner of which is David Ann Thompson Crosse, of Hastings, Hawke’s Bay.

SCHEDULE.

FOREST GATE ESTATE.

  1. ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 8,251 acres 2 roods, more or less, being Sections Nos. 65A, 67, 68, 69, 69A, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 77, 78, 167, 168, 169, 214, 223, 229, 230, 231, and 252, situated in Blocks VII., VIII., XI., and XII. of the Ruataniwha Survey District. Bounded towards the north generally by Sections Nos. 222, 66, and 34 respectively to the Ongaonga Creek; thence towards the north-east generally by that creek to the north-west corner of Section No. 66A, thence by that section to the Ongaonga Creek aforesaid, and by that creek to the easternmost corner of Section No. 65A, thence by the south-eastern boundary-line of that section to the Tukituki River; thence towards the south and south-west by the Tukituki River to the southernmost corner of Section No. 270, Block VII. aforesaid; towards the north-west generally by Sections Nos. 270, 255, 254, 253, 227, 228, 63, 166, 190, 219, 220, and 225, to the place of commencement: as the said estate is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 1923, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District.

  2. The Minister’s Classification of the Land.—
    First class: Sections Nos. 65A, 230, 231, 229, 168, 169, 69, 252, 67, and part 75, about

Second class: Sections Nos. 68, 69A, 70, 71, 73, 74, part 75, Sections 77, 78, 167, 214, and 223, about

  1. The land intended to be taken is the whole of the estate.

  2. Names and Addresses of the Owners of the Estate.—
    The owners in fee-simple are the trustees in the estate of the late Colonel Herrick, to wit, John Neville Williams, of Frimley, Hastings, Hawke’s Bay, sheep-farmer, and Sydney Johnston, of Takapau, Hawke’s Bay, sheep-farmer.
