Allocating Land reserved and taken for a Railway to the Purposes of a Road in Waipawa County.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto forms part of land taken for the purposes of the Wellington-Napier Railway, and it is considered desirable to allocate such land to the purposes of a road:

And whereas it has been certified by the Minister for Railways that such land is not required for railway purposes: And whereas such land is situated in Waipawa County, the local authority of which has assented to the issue of this Proclamation:

And whereas His Excellency the Governor is of opinion that the said local authority can conveniently construct and maintain the said road:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by section one hundred and seventy-seven of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall, upon the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, become a road, and that the said road shall be under the control of the Waipawa County Council, and shall be maintained by the said Council in like manner as other public highways are controlled and maintained by the said Council.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, in the Tahoraite Survey District, containing 3 roods 25·8 perches, more or less, being a portion of the Oringi-Waiaruhe Block, in said survey district. Bounded on the north-east by a road, a distance of 102·2 links; on the north-west by the north-west boundary of the Railway Reserve, a distance of 861·2 links; on the south-west by the south-west boundary of the Railway Reserve, a distance of 140 links; on the south-east by other portion of the Railway Reserve, a distance of 100 links; again on the north-east by other portion of the Railway Reserve, a distance of 40 links; and again on the south-east by a line parallel to and 100 links distant from the north-west boundary of the Railway Reserve, a distance of 782·4 links.

Also all that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, in the Tahoraite Survey District, containing 1 acre 13·5 perches, more or less, being a portion of said Oringi-Waiaruhe Block. Bounded on the north-east by a road, a distance of 102·2 links; on the south-east by the south-east boundary of the Railway Reserve, a distance of 970·4 links; on the south-west by the south-west boundary of the Railway Reserve, a distance of 225 links; on the north-west by other portion of the Railway Reserve, a distance of 100 links; again on the north-east by other portion of the Railway Reserve, a distance of 125 links; and again on the north-west by a line parallel to and 100 links distant from the south-east boundary of the Railway Reserve, a distance of 849·2 links.

As the said parcels of land are more particularly delineated on the plan marked 9736, deposited in the office of the Minister for Railways, at Wellington, and thereon coloured purple.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and one.

GOD SAVE THE KING!

Native and Imported Game not to be taken or killed on Lake Waikare, near Rangiriri, Waikato.

RANFURLY, Governor.

PURSUANT to the powers conferred upon him by “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and the Acts amending the same, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand doth hereby notify that native game and imported game shall not be taken or killed within the area described in the Schedule hereto until the thirteenth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and one.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, being the lake known as Waikare Lake, near Rangiriri, together with the land lying between the margin of that lake and a line parallel to and half a mile distant therefrom.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and one.
