PURSUANT to the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand passed in the forty-fourth year of the reign of Her late Majesty Queen Victoria, and intituled “The Marriage Act, 1880,” the following name of an Officiating Minister within the meaning of the said Act is published for general information :—

Notice of Vesting of Land in the Public Trustee under “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”
WHEREAS I, the undersigned, the Public Trustee, have, for the purposes of “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894,” made due inquiries with respect to the lands described in the Schedule hereunder written, and the owners thereof respectively, and have, in respect of the said lands, given the notices prescribed by section 4 of the said Act, and have in all respects complied with the provisions of the said section: And whereas I have not thereby ascertained who the owner of either parcel of land is, and believe that such owners are not in the colony, nor have such owners or either of them established their or his title to the said lands respectively, as required by the said Act: I hereby give notice that the said lands are, under and by virtue of the said Act, vested in me, as the Public Trustee as aforesaid, as from the date of the publication hereof, and will be administered under the said Act, the assessed value of each parcel of land being less than £100.

ALL that parcel of land, containing 1 rood, more or less, being Section 484, Town of Westport, in the Provincial District of Nelson, fronting Russell Street; and
All that parcel of land, containing 1 rood, more or less, being Section 488 in the said Town of Westport, fronting Russell Street.

Notice of Withdrawal of Deposits under “The Foreign Insurance Companies’ Deposits Act, 1894.”
WHEREAS I, the undersigned, did, on the 12th day of April, 1901, receive a notice in writing as follows:—
“Wellington, 11th April, 1901.
“The Public Trustee, Wellington.
“DEAR SIR,—Following my conversation of the other day, I have to give you notice, in terms of the company’s Act, that the ‘Scottish Metropolitan Life Assurance Co.’ ceased to transact accident business in New Zealand as from the 1st April, 1900, and that the total amount that the company has at risk in the life department in New Zealand is £15,000. Under these circumstances I have to ask you to permit us to withdraw £5,000 of the deposits. Any advertisements that you consider necessary you may insert in the Gazette at our cost.

“Attorney for New Zealand for ‘Scottish Metropolitan.’”
Now this is to give notice to all whom it may concern that, under and by virtue and in pursuance of the provisions of section 18 of “The Life Assurance Companies Act, 1873,” and also of section 17 of “The Foreign Insurance Companies’ Deposits Act, 1894,” I shall, on or after the 12th day of October, 1901, allow the withdrawal of the deposits, or such of them as in my discretion I shall think most proper, to the amount of £5,000, leaving remaining deposits of the sum or face value of £5,000 made with me by the Scottish Metropolitan Life Assurance Company (Limited) under the said Acts; provided that the said company shall then or previously satisfy me as required by the collateral provisions of the said Acts respectively.

Notice to Local Authorities under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886.”

Wellington, 11th April, 1901.
PURSUANT to section 16 of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” the Colonial Treasurer hereby gives notice that on Saturday, the 1st June, 1901, he will be prepared to consider applications from local authorities for loans under the Act.
Applications should be addressed to the Colonial Treasurer, and must be posted so as to arrive at the Treasury on or before the 31st May, 1901.
