"That, for the purpose of securing the payment of £100,
borrowed by the Board under ‘The Government Loans to
Local Bodies Act, 1886,’ and amending Acts, for the pur-
pose of raising and improving the swamp portion of the
Otana–Bothwell Road, a special rate of 3d. in the pound
be struck and levied on Lots 26, 43, 45, 50, 51, 52, 53, 137,
138, 139, 140, 141, 176, and the southern portions of Lots 42,
44, and 46, all being of the Waiuku West Parish; the said
rate to be an annually recurring one for the period of
twenty-six years, by which time the whole debt will be
extinguished, and shall be payable in one instalment upon
the 1st day of July in each year during the currency of
the loan."
I hereby certify that the above special order was duly
made in accordance with the provisions of “The Road
Boards Act, 1882.”

Board, is published in accordance with the pro-
visions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

Wairau Road Board.
Special Order making Special Rate.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in them in
that behalf by “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” and amend-
ments thereof, the Wairau Road Board do hereby resolve
as follows: “That, for the purpose of providing the interest
and other charges on a loan of £400 authorised to be raised
by the Wairau Road Board under the provisions of ‘The
Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,’ for the cost of constructing
a bridge across the Avon River and the cost of raising the
loan, and interest thereon for one year if necessary, the said
Wairau Road Board do hereby make and levy a special rate
of 4d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rate-
able property in the Sub-district of Avon, comprising all
that portion of the Waihopai Subdivision of the Wairau
Road District included in Sections 1 to 19, Block II, Waiho-
pai; Sections 135 to 163, Redwood Run; Sections 12 to 20
and 23 to 26, Block II., and Sections 32, 36 to 56, Summer-
lands Run; containing 20,457 acres: and part of Run
No. 109, Marlborough Land District: as the same are more
particularly delineated on a plan deposited in the office of
the Wairau Road Board, at Blenheim, and thereon coloured
green. And that such special rate shall be an annually
recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be
payable half-yearly on the 30th day of June and 31st day of
December in each and every year during a period equal to
the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six
years, or until the loan is fully paid off.”

KIRIKIRIROA ROAD BOARD.
That a special order be now made whereby all the plants
mentioned and included in the Second Schedule to “The
Noxious Weeds Act, 1900,”—viz., Bathurst burr, broom,
giant burdock, gorse, hakea, and ragwort or ragweed—shall
be deemed and are hereby declared by this special order to
be noxious weeds within the Kirikiri roa Road District; the
order to take effect from the date of its publication in the
New Zealand Gazette.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of
the Porangahau Road Board, is published in accord-
ance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans
Act, 1886.”

It is hereby notified that, at a poll taken at Wimbledon on
the 13th April, in accordance with “The Local Bodies’
Loans Act, 1886,” and “The Local Government Voting
Reform Act, 1899,” the following votes were recorded on
the proposal to borrow the sum of £1,200 for bridge-con-
struction near Wimbledon:—
Votes in favour of the proposal, 33; votes against the pro-
posal, nil; majority of votes in favour of the proposal, 33.
As the number of valid votes recorded in favour of the
proposal consists of more than three-fifths of the total
number of valid votes recorded, I hereby declare the poll to
have been carried.

Notice respecting Native and Imported Game.

THE attention of sportsmen, game-dealers, and others is
called to the provisions of “The Animals Protection
Act Amendment Act, 1889,” “The Animals Protection Act
Amendment Act, 1895,” and “The Animals Protection Acts
Amendment Act, 1900,” which are now in force. A digest
of the chief of such provisions is subjoined, viz.:—
“The Animals Protection Act Amendment Act, 1889.”
Section 4. No person shall kill, destroy, or shoot at any
game or native game with anything but a shoulder-gun, and
no such gun must exceed size No. 10 at muzzle, or be fitted
with barrels exceeding 36 in. in length. No gun shall exceed
10 lb. in weight.
Any person offending against this provision is liable to a
penalty not exceeding £10.
Section 5. No person shall sell any native game, or take
or kill any native game for the purpose of sale, without pre-
viously taking out the required license.
Penalty not exceeding £20.
Section 6. No sale of native game shall take place prior to
the 1st May and subsequent to the 1st August in any year.
If any person hold a license to sell game—i.e., imported
game—he is not liable to pay a second fee on taking out a
license to sell native game. But both licenses must be taken
out if it is intended to sell both kinds of game.

Section 6. Section 12 of “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,”
is repealed. No person can now sell game, or dispose thereof
for any gain or reward, unless he be the holder of a license to
sell such game.
Penalty not exceeding £20.

Section 2. Season for taking or killing native and im-
ported game, 1st May to 31st July (except in Provincial
District of Otago, where the season is 1st April to 30th
June).
Section 3. No game or native game to be exported with-
out the written consent of the Colonial Secretary, nor held
in possession for a greater period than seven days after
close of season, whether such game or native game be
frozen, chilled, or not.
Section 4. Native pigeon, pukeko, and kaka not to be
taken or killed this year.
