Investment of Funds.

  1. The Board may from time to time direct the President to invest any surplus funds not required for immediate use in such manner and upon such security as shall be authorised by resolution of the Board.

Certificates of Qualification.

  1. No certificate of qualification as a pharmaceutical chemist shall be issued to any person (other than those possessing any of the qualifications mentioned in section 27 of the Act and any amendments thereof) until he furnishes proof to the satisfaction of the Board that he has attained the age of twenty-one years, and a statutory declaration, to be approved by the Board, that he has duly passed the prescribed examinations, and has faithfully and without unreasonable intermission served his apprenticeship for the term of three years as prescribed by subsection (2) of section 30 of the Act, accompanied by a statutory declaration of the person to whom he was apprenticed to that effect, and by his articles of apprenticeship and examination certificate.

  2. All plates used for printing the forms of certificates shall be deposited in the Board’s room in a box having two locks and two keys, one of which shall be in the custody of the President, and the other in that of the Registrar. No print shall be taken from any of the said plates except by order of the Board; and all prints taken shall be in the custody of the Registrar.

Enrolled Managers.

  1. Every registered chemist who absents himself from the town in which his business is situated for any period extending over one month shall leave such business in charge of his duly enrolled manager.

Headquarters of Society.

  1. The headquarters of the society may be changed from time to time by vote of the majority of the members of the society.

The Board shall cause such vote to be taken upon the receipt of a petition signed by registered chemists representing not less than 10 per cent. of the number of registered chemists residing within New Zealand.

Interpretation.

In these regulations the term “the Act” means “The Pharmacy Act, 1898,” and “the Board” means the Pharmacy Board of New Zealand.

The voter is to strike out the name of the candidate or candidates for whom he does not intend to vote by drawing a line through the same with a pencil. He must be careful not to leave uncanceled the names of more than candidates, otherwise this voting-paper will be invalid, and the vote will not be counted.

He must insert this voting-paper in the printed envelope, fasten it, and post it to the address of the Registrar so that it shall reach him in course of post not later than 10 o’clock on the morning of the day of , Registrar.

Poll for £8,000.

I HEREBY give notice that the result of the polling on the proposal of the Mornington Borough Council to raise a loan of £8,000 for the purpose of forming streets, water-channels, kerbing and asphalting footpaths, and metalling said streets, is as follows:—

For the proposal, 157; against the proposal, 71.

I therefore declare the said proposal carried.

In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886.”

I, JAMES ANNAND, Mayor of the Borough of Mornington, do solemnly and sincerely declare,—

  1. That the proposal of the Mornington Borough Council to raise £8,000 by way of loan for the purpose of street-improvements was submitted to a poll of the ratepayers taken at Mornington on Tuesday, the 18th day of December, 1900.

  2. That all the proceedings required to be taken by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” in or towards obtaining the sanction of the burgesses of the said Borough of Mornington to the said proposal have been duly and properly taken and observed.

  3. That the resolution in favour of the said proposal has been duly carried.

And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

RAMA ROAD Proposed Loan of £1,000 (for the Purpose of forming and metalling the Unmetalled Portions of the Rama Road within the Southern Subdivision).

RESULT of poll taken on 28th December, 1900:—

Number of ratepayers on roll, 14, representing 23 votes:
Number of votes recorded in favour, 16; number of votes recorded against, nil; number of votes not recorded, 7.

The number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal being at least three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded, I therefore declare the above proposal to be duly carried.
