Open land in Dacre Township; situated four miles and a half from Woodlands Railway-station. Limit of holding, 100 acres.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

  1. THE lands enumerated above are first-class lands, and are village-homestead allotments, open for selection on lease in perpetuity under the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892” (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”).

  2. The day on which the lands shall be open for selection shall be Wednesday, the 24th day of April, 1901.

  3. The rentals stated above shall be the price at which the lands shall be open for selection.

  4. Applications for leases shall be made in manner as provided in Part I. of the said Act, and all such applications shall be made to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Invercargill; and leases will be issued in accordance with the provisions of Part I. aforesaid.

  5. Each applicant shall state his or her residence, occupation, and condition in life (namely, whether married or single), and will be required to make the declaration prescribed in Schedule C of the said Act.

  6. Each applicant shall pay the first half-year’s rent, together with the lease- and registration-fee, immediately the application has been approved or declared successful at the ballot.

  7. All rents must be paid half-yearly, in advance, on the 1st days of January and July in each year, as provided in section 157 of the said Act; and the first half-year’s rent is payable as before provided.

  8. Improvements and residence on the land comprised in each lease shall be as provided in Part III. of the said Act. The provisions of section 144, and all other provisions of the said Act with respect to substantial improvements, shall apply accordingly to lessees under these regulations. The provisions of section 141, and all other provisions of the said Act in respect of compulsory residence, shall apply accordingly to lessees under these regulations.

  9. No lessee shall subdivide, sublet, or transfer the land held by him under these regulations, except under and subject to the provisions of Part I. of the said Act.

  10. No lessee shall hold more than 100 acres, including that already held, and all allotments shall be held for his or her sole use and benefit, and not for the use or benefit of any other person whomsoever. No married woman shall be eligible as a selector; but this provision shall not apply to any married woman who may become a transferee under a will or by virtue of an intestacy.

  11. All the provisions of the said Act, so far as applicable, shall extend and apply to the lands affected by these regulations, and to the applications and leases to be made and issued thereunder, and generally to the interests created, and the persons whose rights, liabilities, or interests are thereby affected; and the mention of any particular provision of the said Act shall not be deemed to exclude any other provision of the said Act applicable to the particular case.

Notice defining the Purpose of a Portion of a Reserve in the Taranaki Land District.

RANFURLY, Governor.

WHEREAS by the fifth section of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” it is, amongst other things, enacted that, if there shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be any doubt or uncertainty as to the purpose for which a reserve was set apart, he may by notice gazetted define such purpose or purposes as to either the whole or any part of such reserve, subject to the action of the General Assembly, as provided in the seventh section of the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” aforesaid, define the specific purpose of the portion of the reserve described in the second column of the Schedule hereto from that named in the first column of the said Schedule to that named in the third column of the said Schedule respectively.

SCHEDULE.

Description and Purpose of Original Reserve. Portion which it is intended to define. Intended Purpose.
All that parcel of land in the Taranaki Land District, containing by admeasurement 101 acres 1 rood 30 perches, being Section No. 45, Ketemarae District, Hawera Survey District. Reserved for General Government purposes by a warrant of the 3rd August, 1871, and published in Gazette of 19th August, 1871, pages 409, 410. All that parcel of land in the Taranaki Land District, containing by admeasurement 7 acres and 1 perch, more or less, being Allotment No. 11, Waihi Reserve, situated in Block V., Hawera Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by a public road; towards the south-east by Ketemarae Road; towards the south-west by Allotment No. 10; and towards the north-west by Allotment No. 9. Paddock for the use of the Stock Department.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-first day of February, one thousand nine hundred and one.

THE following is the result of a poll of the ratepayers of the Pukekura Riding, Waipa County, taken on the 19th day of February, 1901, on a proposal to raise a loan of £600, under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and its amendments, for the purpose of erecting culverts on the Ohaupo–Cambridge Road:—

For the proposal, number of votes, 78; against the proposal, number of votes, nil.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.
