MANAWATU ROAD BOARD.

Result of poll taken at the residence of Mr. A. Fitzherbert, Cameron’s Line, on the 8th December, 1900, on the proposal to raise a loan of £300, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” and “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and respective amendments, for clearing, forming, and metalling Cameron’s Line from the north-east boundary of Section 1D, Block II., Kairanga, to the Bunnythorpe–Feilding Railway Road:—

Number of ratepayers on special roll, 17, representing 26 votes: 10 ratepayers, representing 13 votes, voted in favour of the proposal; no votes were recorded against the proposal.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

Result of poll taken on the 28th day of May, 1900, upon the proposal to borrow the sum of £2,600 under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” for the construction and metalling of certain road in the Hillend Special Works District:—

Number of ratepayers on roll, 61; number of votes on roll, 96: Number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 47; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 14; votes not recorded, 35.

As the prescribed majority of votes required were recorded in favour of the proposal, I hereby declare the proposal carried.

Result of Poll for Proposed Drainage Loan, Eden Terrace Road District.

The following is the result of a poll taken on the 26th January, 1901, on the proposal to borrow £3,000 under the provisions of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and its amendments, to provide a complete system of drainage for the whole of the Eden Terrace Road District; the loan to be for a period of thirty-two years, and the interest to be paid by the local authority to be 4 per centum per annum; the security for the said loan to be a special rate of eleven-fortieths of a penny in the pound on all the rateable property in the said district, and to be a recurring rate for a period of thirty-two years:—

Number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 79; number of valid votes recorded against the proposal, 36; informal votes, 4.

As the number of valid votes in favour of the proposal are more than three-fifths of the valid votes recorded, I hereby declare the said proposal carried.

BOROUGH OF ST. KILDA.

Sir,—I have the honour to inform you that a poll was taken on the 30th day of January, 1901, on the proposal to borrow £7,000 sterling for the following purposes: (1) To pay off an existing special loan of £3,000 falling due on the 1st March, 1901; (2) to pay off £1,000 of bank overdraft; (3) to undertake the particular work of street-formation and drainage to the extent of £3,000. And the result of the poll was:—

Votes for the proposal, 106; votes against the proposal, 3.

A majority of the burgesses having voted in favour of the proposal, I declare the resolution carried.

I, John Gore, Town Clerk of the Borough of St. Kilda, do solemnly and sincerely declare that all proceedings required by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” to be taken in or towards obtaining the sanction of the burgesses to the proposal to borrow the sum of £7,000 sterling for the purposes of—(1) Paying off an existing special loan of £3,000 falling due on 1st March, 1901; (2) paying off £1,000 of bank overdraft; (3) and to undertake the work of street-formation and drainage to the extent of £3,000 for the Borough of St. Kilda—have been duly taken, and that the resolution in favour of the proposal has been duly carried; and I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”
