THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Stratford County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

STRATFORD COUNTY COUNCIL.

RESULT of a poll taken on the 7th day of February, 1901, upon the proposal to borrow £3,500, under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the construction of portions of the Cheal and Wingrove Roads :—

Number of ratepayers on special roll, 22; number of votes exercisable, 33: Number of ratepayers voting in favour of the proposal, 16; number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 25; number of ratepayers voting against the proposal, 0.

I therefore declare the proposal carried.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Patangata County.

PATANGATA COUNTY COUNCIL.

RESULT of poll taken on Tuesday, the 29th January, 1901, on proposed loan of £12,000 for constructing a road from Porangahau Township to Oakbourne Gate, and for forming and metalling portions of the main road between Wanstead and Wallingford :—

Number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 58; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 17.

As the number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal is more than three-fifths of the total number recorded at the poll, I therefore declare the proposal to be duly carried.

Oxford Road Special Rating District.

THE following is the result of poll taken on the 12th February, 1901, on a proposal to borrow £500 in accordance with the special order passed by the Okato Road Board on the 21st January, 1901 :—

Number of ratepayers on special roll, 30, representing 32 votes: The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 18; against the proposal, 11.

There being a three-fifths majority in favour, I declare the proposal carried.

EKETAHUNA COUNTY.

THE following is the result of a poll taken at the county offices, Eketa huna, on the 9th day of February, 1901, upon a proposal to raise a loan of £200 under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” and its amendments, for the purpose of metalling part of Makakahi Road North (No. 2) :—

Number of ratepayers on special roll, 5; number of pollable votes, 5: Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 4; number of ratepayers who voted against the proposal, 0; number of ratepayers who did not exercise their votes, 1.

As the number of ratepayers who voted and the number of votes recorded were in each case a majority (the latter more than three-fifths of the valid votes recorded) in favour of the proposal, I therefore declare the proposal carried.

THAT this Board doth declare the following plants, included in the Second Schedule of “The Noxious Weeds Act, 1900,” to be noxious weeds—Broom (Cytisus scoparius), gorse (Ulex europæus); such special order to take effect from the date of its publication in the Government Gazette.

MOA ROAD BOARD.

THAT ragwort, or ragweed (Senecio jacobæus), as mentioned in the Second Schedule of “The Noxious Weeds Act, 1900,” is hereby declared to be a noxious weed on all lands and roads within the jurisdiction of the Moa Road Board.

That, to secure the repayment of a loan of £230 raised under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and its Amendment Act, 1899, such loan being for a period of twenty-six years, and the interest at the rate of 4½ per cent. per annum, for the purpose of forming and graveling the Bedford Road South from the Dudley Road West southwards, a special rate of ⅞d. in the pound be made and levied over the following lands, which are hereby constituted the “Bedford Road South Special Rating District”: Sections part 5, 6, 7, 8, part 126, 127, 128, 138, 139, Block VIII., Egmont S.D. Such rate to be an annual-recurring rate for twenty-six years, and to be payable in one instalment on the 1st day of January in each year.
