Fixing Shooting-season for Deer, License-fee, &c., Marlborough District.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and the Acts amending the same, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that red-deer stags and fallow-deer bucks may be taken or killed within the Marlborough District, comprising the Counties of Marlborough and Sounds, from the twenty-third day of February, one thousand nine hundred and one, to the twenty-second day of April, one thousand nine hundred and one, both inclusive (subject, nevertheless, to the restrictions in the said Acts mentioned); and I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall be issued on the payment of the sum of twenty shillings each, and that no licensee shall be allowed to kill more than six stags or bucks, and that the Chief Postmaster at Blenheim is hereby appointed to issue the said licenses.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-first day of February, one thousand nine hundred and one.

WEBER ROAD BOARD.

Proposal to raise a Special Loan of £3,000.

A roll of the ratepayers was taken on the 16th January, 1901, to decide whether such loan should be raised or otherwise, and resulted as follows:—

For the proposal, 99; against proposal, 1; informal, 1: total, 101.

As the number of votes polled in favour of the proposal was less than one-half of the votes which can be exercised in the district, I therefore declare the proposal rejected.
