Totara and Rimu Timber, Tararua Survey District, for Sale by Public Auction for Cash.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Wellington, 10th January, 1901.

NOTICE is hereby given that timber on the under-mentioned Crown lands, containing about 750,000 superficial feet, in Tararua Survey District, will be offered for sale by public auction, in one lot, at the Public Hall, Eketahuna, on Thursday, the 7th March, 1901, at 2.30 p.m.

SCHEDULE.

Section 1, Block IV., Tararua District; 201 acres 2 roods.
Totara (first class): About 237 trees, containing about 167,000 superficial feet.
Totara (second class): About 148 trees, containing about 83,000 superficial feet.
Rimu: About 500,000 superficial feet.
Upset price, £333 10s.

TERMS OF SALE.

The timber is offered subject to the provisions of “The State Forests Act, 1885,” and of the regulations made thereunder.

The purchaser shall pay the purchase-money in cash or by marked cheque in three equal instalments—one-third, and £1 1s. license-fee, being deposited on the fall of the hammer, one-third within six months thereafter, and the remaining one-third within twelve months from date of sale.

The purchaser shall have the sole use of the land contained in license, and the right to cut and remove the timber thereon noted in above Schedule, during a period of two years from the date of sale.

Plans containing full particulars may be obtained at the principal post-offices in the district, and at this office.

Small Grazing-run, Taranaki, open for Selection.

NOTICE is hereby given that the under-mentioned small grazing-run will be open for lease on application on Tuesday, the 26th February, 1901, at the half-yearly rental stated. In the event of more than one application being received on the same day, the right to selection will be decided by ballot on the following day at 11 a.m.

Rough and broken country, heavily timbered with tawai, rata, rimu, tawa, &c., with dense undergrowth. All pastoral country, the soil being poor, resting upon a formation of papa, and well watered; the streams lie mostly in gorges. The height of hills above streams is about 1,000 ft. Distant from Waitotara about fifty miles, by way of the Waitotara Valley Road, which is formed as a dray-road to within about eleven miles of the block. Access may also be had from Eltham, via the Rawhitiroa Road, distant about fifty-two miles, twenty of which have been opened for dray traffic, eleven miles being metalled; the remainder of the Rawhitiroa Road has been opened for horse traffic to its junction with the Waitotara Valley Road.

IT is hereby notified that the under-mentioned pastoral runs will be offered by public auction, at the District Lands and Survey Office, Blenheim, on Tuesday, the 12th day of February, 1901.

PASTORAL LICENSES UNDER PART VI., “LAND ACT, 1892.”
Blue Mountain Survey District.

Run No. 147 (Class II.): 1,100 acres; term, twenty-one years; upset annual rental, £15. Weighted with £37, valuation for improvements, consisting of fencing. Possession will be given on 1st March, 1901.

Avon, Taylor Pass, Blue Mountain, and Hodder Survey Districts.

Run No. 148 (Class I.): 10,650 acres; term, twenty-one years; upset annual rental, £70. Weighted with £188, valuation for improvements, consisting of fencing. Possession will be given on 1st March, 1901.

One half-year’s rent, and £1 1s. lease-fee, must be paid on the fall of the hammer, and the usual declaration furnished.

Description of Land.

Run No. 147: High, mountainous, rocky country; bare of vegetation on summit of ranges. Lower hills and slopes covered with tussock, manuka, fern, and a little grass. Soil fair; well watered. Open pastoral country. About twelve miles from Dungree Railway-station. Altitude from 500 ft. to 4,500 ft.

Run No. 148: High, rough, rocky, and mountainous. Summit of ranges bare of vegetation. Slopes covered with tussock and a little grass. Soil stony and poor; well watered. About 100 acres stunted birch bush. About twelve miles from Dungree Railway-station. Altitude, 500 ft. to 4,900 ft.

Terms of Sale.

One-fifth of the purchase-money to be paid on the fall of the hammer, and the balance, with Crown-grant fee, within thirty days thereafter, otherwise the part of the purchase-money paid by way of deposit will be forfeited, and the contract for the sale of the land be null and void.

There are no restrictions or limitations imposed on the purchasers of these sections.
