UNDER "THE MINING ACT, 1898," AND ITS AMENDMENTS.
APPLICATION FOR LICENSE FOR A WATER-RACE.
To the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Southland Land District, at Invercargill.
PURSUANT to "The Mining Act, 1898," the undersigned, the Charlton Creek Gold-dredging Company (Limited), hereby applies for a license for a water-race as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.
Date and number of miner's right: 14/11/1900; No. 17606.
Address for service: Care of D. L. Poppelwell, Solicitor, Gore.
Dated at Invercargill, this 14th day of January, 1901.
SCHEDULE.
Locality of the race, and of its starting and terminal points: Charlton Creek, starting on the said creek immediately below the point where the south-eastern corner of Section 453, Hokonui District, touches the said creek, and running thence through Allotments 7 and 8 on Plan 83, part Section 4A, Waimumu Hundred, and terminating at the Charlton Creek near the north-eastern corner of said Allotment 8, so as to place the water of such race back to the natural channel of the Charlton Creek after user by the applicant as hereinafter mentioned. Pegs marked H.
Length and intended course of race: Length, about 60 chains; south-easterly, through Allotments 7 and 8 aforementioned.
Points of intake: At the starting-point aforesaid, immediately below where the south-eastern corner of Section 453, Hokonui District, touches the Charlton Creek.
Estimated time and cost of construction: One month; about £50.
Mean depth and breadth: 18 in. by 24 in.
Number of heads to be diverted: Three and a half.
Purpose for which water is to be used: For mining purposes, by dredging, on Allotments 7 and 8, Plan 83, Waimumu Hundred.
Proposed term of license: Forty-two years.

Precise time of filing of the foregoing application: 14th January, 1901, at 11.30 a.m.
Time and place appointed for the hearing of the application, and all objections thereto: Friday, 15th February, 1901, at 11 a.m., at Land Office, Invercargill.
Objections thereto must be filed in the office of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, at Invercargill, and notified to applicant, at least twenty-four hours before the time so appointed.

THE GOLDEN STAR DREDGING COMPANY (LIMITED), (IN LIQUIDATION).
NOTICE is hereby given, in pursuance of section 202 of "The Companies Act, 1882," that a General Meeting of the members of the above-named company will be held on the 22nd day of March, 1901, at 8 p.m., in the Dunedin Stock Exchange Room, for the purpose of having an account laid before them showing the manner in which the winding-up has been conducted, the property of the company disposed of, and of hearing any explanation that may be given by the Liquidator; and also of determining by extraordinary resolution the manner in which the books, accounts, and documents of the company, and of the Liquidator thereof, shall be disposed of.

NOTICE is hereby given that at an extraordinary general meeting of the above company, held at the registered office of the company, 33, Crawford Street, Dunedin, on Friday, the 4th day of January, 1901, the following extraordinary resolution was passed, viz:—
"That it has been proved to the satisfaction of this meeting that the company cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business, and that it is advisable to wind up the same; and accordingly that the company be wound up voluntarily."
And at the same meeting THOMAS HENRY THOMPSON, of Dunedin, Accountant, was appointed Liquidator of the said company.
